Wise yet practical
A friend recommended that I read Tara Brach. He had read this book and also listened regularly to her weekly podcast and said that her advice was useful to the point of being transformative. Though not a committed follower of any formal belief system, he is what I would term a Catholic in recovery in the process of migrating toward Buddhism. I think I can say the same about myself. There are more than a few of us out there. I suppose that Radical Acceptance can be categorized as self-help but in the best sense. I am no great fan of the genre, but I found it hard to put this book down or to dismiss Ms. Brach's arguments. The author's voice is kind but sure. Her mastery of the tenets of Buddhist teaching and how they might be applied to Western lay people feel spot on. Nearly every page has something to offer in the way of resonating observations or applicable practices. Though it has been months since I read the book, I still use one of her meditations every morning as I am driving to work. I pray for myself, my wife, those I will be working with, someone whom [try as I might not to] I despise, and then everyone and every being. It helps. "May we be filled with lovingkindness, may we be held in lovingkindness." It sound all granola and hokey but to paraphrase Herman Hesse, wisdom when spoken sounds foolish.

Tara Brach has written a truly incredible book here, one that really all of us could benefit from reading. Her insights into human nature are spot-on and have really touched my heart. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Amazing
A wonderfully uplifting book that took me through a process of self examination and forgiveness. Since reading this book I have watched a number of Tara Brach's talks on You Tube which I highly recommend. I will read this book again and again.
