The new 23 bg sw is half the size as the old bg 4000. Unbelievable size and weight difference 1 less bearing under the spool old bg was 7 now 6,they have removed the bearing under the spool and the spool no longer has the braid ready rubber, mono backup fixes that though.overall very happy with the 23 model. Arrived way faster than expected from Japan, very nice looking reel, smaller and lighter than expected. As compared to my 4000 bg mq it's far lighter. Update: used this reel once then took it on a 3 day trip. On the 3rd day the reel began making a grinding and click sound. Got home took the reel apart, hardly any grease in it and very rusty around bearings. This reel is not sealed at all, would have stuck with the BG MQ had I known this. Was able to clean up the reel to the point where it is smooth again but I shouldn't have to do that with a brand new reel fished for a total of 4 days.
