Honest and true
What a cool book, not exactly a memoir but a solid account of the author's personal growth. So inspiring and although it doesn't get too far into the "war stories," there is lots about BJJ and how learning the sport flipped the script. I recommend this! It will get you off your butt!

Inspiring story
Was an interesting story, a realistic experience of being a beginner in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, One person's journey thru the struggles of BJJ.

Inspirational and honest
Good book, had a hard time putting it down! This shows you how someone can hit rock bottom and still rise out of the ashes to come out on top. Reminds me to never give up. Dan has an honest and refreshing writing style that i enjoyed.

Inspiring story
This book was fantastic and inspiring from beginning to end. I can relate in many ways to the author and I felt empowered the entire time I was reading this book. I've never felt compelled to write a review for anything until now. Thank you Dan for sharing your story.

An inspiring book about transformation and self-improvement!
Dan's story is inspiring and a great reminder of how setting goals - and working towards them with great diligence - can transform our lives for the better. I'm not part of the jiu jitsu community, so although the finer points of the sport were lost to me, the overall message of transformation and self improvement was fantastic.

Good but reads as a blog - which was the origin of the book
Good read; story is touching. Writer writes well but is too vague on certain details. It reads like a blog which is the origin of story. Overall worth reading but wished for more.

Really good read
If you like and train in bjj you may like this book. The author tells his story has a white belt starting bjj. A good read that can motivate you to train harder or just inspire you. Maybe you train in bjj or have an interest in martial arts.
