A unique and rich color palette.
A unique and rich color palette. The pencils are smooth and vary in the lay down with the pressure used. The core is harder than Prismacolor Premier and they are similar in feel and result when coloring to Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Paper with some tooth grabs their color better than really smooth paper, but you can still get good coverage of smooth paper. They blend nicely with each other, but I haven't tried blending with other brands of pencils. They layer well and erase reasonably well. I have included a finished coloring page that uses all the pencils in this set.The pencils sharpen easily and hold a point for a good amount of coloring. The pencil case is a creamy white with the pencil color on the end. The tip colors are reasonably accurate. This set include volumes 4-6 : Pale Tones II, Deep Tones 2, and Light 1 Grayish Tones. The Grayish tones are subtle but still beautiful. The deep tones have really beautiful dark blue, green, rust, plum, burgundy, and gold colors, it is maybe my favorite volume of all nine. The pale tones make me think of Easter eggs. There are multiple shades of blue, green, and yellow in this set the burgundy is the only one shade of red in the set. Overall if you are only getting one of the three sets, the first set is the most traditional in color options, but it you are looking for a set to supplement other pencil sets with unique colors, this is a good choice. The storage case they come in is a nice cardboard outer box with 3 inner trays, one for each 10 pencil volume. The inner lidded trays have a linen like feel but are also cardboard, and are secured with an attached elastic band. The pencils came pre-sharpened and fully intact, no breakage at all.

I simply love these colored pencils and the packaging is so unique ...
I simply love these colored pencils and the packaging is so unique as well as the colors that you won't find in other colored pencil sets. I have numerous colored pencil sets from the expensive faber castell polychromo's, Prisma premier, Marco raffine, crayola and some generic pencils. I love how these are packaged as far as each set of 30 has a theme and each box in the set has a volume of pale, vivid and deep. Even though they might not blend as well as my prisma's or polychromo's it can be accomplished. The pencil is just beautifully made with a lovely covering of white enamel giving the pencil a very elegant look. They are not a soft core pencil but still go down very smooth and give no waxy appearance. I bought the first set and was so impressed that I bought them all. I wish they sold open stock (maybe they do and I'm unaware) but the do not break like the more expensive pencils and sharpen to a great sharp point so even if I need an extra I'll have no hesitation in buying another set.

I do like these pencils, but I do not use them often
bought this because I happened on a good price. I wanted these to be really great pencils, but for the price, they are just so-so. Have fun coloring!!!

Wonderful product!
I bought the full 90 pencil set (all 3 'books'), and just finished doing my color chart. What a pleasant surprise when I began laying the color down!! These pencils are every bit as creamy as my better sets, but really break resistant, both when sharpening and coloring. First, the packaging was more than adequate. All 3 books arrived from different vendors, in perfect condition. I love the unique packaging idea, even though I will probably store them in color order, rather than the tone, or vibrancy, order. The pigment is excellent. It is totally vibrant when it's supposed to be, and there are some of the most beautiful pastels. Basically, there is a very pastel, pastel, vibrant, deep, and muted ('dull' or 'grayed') for every color family. I can use what I used to think of as moderate pressure and get total coverage in 2 or 3 passes on most colors, which is VERY kind to my troubled hands. And lastly, I now have a lot of unique colors that I do not have in any of my 100+ sets. I'm excited about these, and this was a TOTALLY unsolicited review from a happy buyer.

Nice colored pencils
These are very nice colored pencils although I feel the color variety is very close between the three sets a person such as my self the suffer from complete set sindrome of course bought all three sets and once I had searched them out I had realized that the three sets were nearly only a shade off from the other two I guess I was expecting more of a broad color pallet Blendability is nice and also nice addition onto pre-existing colored pencil collection but I would not start your colored pencil collection with these...one huge up side is you CAN NOT beat how nice the packaging is

Love these pencils!
These have such a nice, smooth color lay down. You can barely see pencil marks on most of the coloring books I've used. This set completes my total set of the 90 and it's my favorite. The Deep II and the Light Grayish I are so versatile. If you are just beginning to collect these, I'd personally go with either this one or the Pale I Vivid I Deep I. The price is worth it to me. Coming in at just under $1 a pencil, it's about the same price as Prismacolors, which I ended up giving to my daughter. The leads have not broken and hold points very well. These are well-suited to detail work, though they cover smoothly in larger areas also. The pencil is very attractive with round white barrels and the color on the end. It is a fairly good representation of the color, though a bit more intense since it is paint instead of lead. I have no complaints about these at all except that I didn't order them sooner! Happy coloring!

These arrived on time and in perfect condition. I love these pencils
These arrived on time and in perfect condition. I love these pencils. I own many brands of colored pencils and I don't have any like these. They produce a pencil mark that is very different and I am really enjoying the odd colors that you do not find in other brands. They do not work like Prisma's, Polychromose, or Luminance. They are very different. They are not hard but they are not soft. They do blend but it's very different. I am enjoying them.
