Exactly What I Needed — Safe, Compact, and Reliable
I purchased this power cord as an extension for my 1500-watt toaster oven. I only needed about 8 more inches to reach the wall outlet, so the 1-foot length was perfect—anything longer would have just hung awkwardly. With its 14 AWG gauge, 15 Amp, 125 Volt, and 1875 Watt rating, it’s more than capable of safely handling the load. The cord feels sturdy and thick, which gives me confidence that it won’t overheat or melt. The connection to the toaster power cord is also nice and snug. I love the flat plug — it doesn’t stick out from the wall and offers great flexibility in tight spaces. Exactly what I needed — highly recommend for similar use.

Works perfect!
Exactly what I needed to be able to get the short microwave cord to go behind the only grounded outlet plug, which is behind the refrigerator. It was a perfect fit! Everything sold in stores were multiple feet long.

Plug fits loose, risky and dangerous!
I needed a very short, heavy duty extension cord for our microwave oven, and there aren’t very many cords that fit the bill, both heavy and short. But for some time, this Firmerst cord seemed fine for the job - even for half a year after I got it and was using it. Then I had occasion to do a little re-arranging, and I saw and realized that the male plug end of this cord fits very loose, so loose that, depending on what it is plugged into, the plug literally just falls out the socket due to its own (obviously small) weight. The male plug even fits loose when plugged into the other, female socket end of this same cord - thereby proving that the fault exists fully within this Firmerst cord, this is not just some ridiculous coincidence wherein all the female sockets/receptacles that I’ve tried against are all too big or loose. And this is very risky and dangerous, the loose connection of this cord could easily lead to lost power, low voltage, overheating, and even fire. This is actually now one of a few recent plugs/cords that I’ve got that have this same problem, all from off-brand products like this. Although in this Firmerst cord the problem seems to be mainly with the male plug, whereas on some other cords both the male-end plug and the female-end socket are distinctly loose when tested against other devices. I haven’t yet figured out exactly what’s going on here, what’s causing this problem, whether these cords don’t comply with the governing NEMA standards for plugs and sockets, or what. But it’s a terribly real, and growing problem, serious, dangerous, and definitely a fault within this cord. You might want to skip it. I am for now very generously rating this cord at 4 stars, rating it that high only because I haven’t yet figured out exactly what is causing the fit problem with this cord. But I expect that I or somebody will soon figure it out - and I will likely then be back here to further lower the rating of this cord accordingly.

High capacity, low profile cord
I needed a one-foot extension cord that had a 90-degree plug to power the water bucket heaters in my horse barn (the cords on the buckets were just a little too short to reach the outlets). I didn't want to use the rotating plugs, because this is a dusty environment and I wanted to minimize the amount of environmental exposure. This is exactly the cord I was looking for. It uses 14 awg wires (heavier than most), so it can handle a full 15 amp load. Most of the shorty extension cords that you find use only 16 awg or 18 awg wires, so they can't handle nearly as much current as these bad boys. The cord is 16.25" (412mm) long from tip to tip. The bare cord between the end fittings is 11.75" (298mm) long. That's a little longer than the advertised "1-foot" length, but I don't hear anybody complaining about an extra 4". The cord extends away from the plug toward the 5-o'clock position so that you can get two of these extension cords into the same duplex receptacle. It's a tight fit (see the photo), but it does work. The plug is low profile--just 9/16" (14mm) thick. That's great if you need to sandwich it back behind some furniture, but it does make it a little hard to unplug because there's not much to grab onto. The small lip is what does the trick there. These appear to be very well made cords, so I expect them to last a long time, even in the temperature extremes of our barn.
