If like me your swapping the innards of an old key to replace with this new key then beware. Inside your key is a tiny micro chip see pictured. It Is your immobilizer chip. It drops out of the key when your trying to take apart. If you loose this your van won't start.Great key worked fine with my 2004 t5

Great value for money

This is an adequate product but not made to the same quality as the manufacturer's original. The components are different dimensions and thus you cannot just switch parts across. Likewise, the VW fobs are often designed to be destroyed by opening so if you are hoping to switch parts you will probably end up needing to move everything across. The chip within the newer 3 button keys will not fit inside this fob as it is a different shape; sadly the images here do not show the inside of the 3 button variant (it's the same shape as shown on the two button fob in this listing).

Dimensions not exactly same as oem key; so without some fine tuning your original key may not flick out nicely

I bought this because my fob was broken at the point you attach a keyring. I therefore only used the half with the enactment and the buttons linking it with the existing half that had the key this was very easy without any fittin problems just a case of transferring the tiny circuit board and battery over to the new half. I kept the other half in case I ever snap the key.

Bought to extract substitute for broken key blade holder, which doesn't appear to be available for separate purchase. However after much hammering and drilling still unable to remove blank blade and so will need to purchase alternative product.

This key replacement came quickly and I arranged for an auto key specialist to both cut the key and set and marry the electronics in the key to my VW Golf Mk5. This cost £90 - and everything works a ok. Saved a lot.

Works great, swapped out the chip and key from my old fob and worked straight away, no problems!
