Perfect basic scan tool
Thinkcar continues to make excellent scanners and this mini scanner is no exception. The scanner is very user friendly, anyone can use it with no automotive experience. The scanner will go through all supported systems in your vehicle (vehicle systems vary by particular car) and will generate codes that are easily readable. This information can be very useful when bringing your car to the mechanic because you'll go in with more knowledge and a better understanding of what the issue is. The scanner is small and fits perfectly in your glovebox so you can keep it with you at all times. Great product, highly recommended.

Plug and play, easy to use but you must know cars a little more than just basic knowlege
The “Engine” light on my 2008 Pathfinder keeps coming on and mechanics’ computers are not picking up error codes. I got this for my own peace of mind hoping it would tell me why the tire pressure light and the engine light are solid on.This is really plug and play and the menus are not difficult to navigate. The only thing is, you have to know about cars beyond just error code readers to be able to use all the functions. It did say that it would detect my car make and model but what it actually did was read the VIN number which I suppose is good enough, but the make and model did not appear.I figure that I have to learn how to use all the functions in order for this to be truly useful to me in the long run but it did clear the engine error code once I disconnected it which is what mechanics’ computers did too until it came on again a few days later. For me this a a 4.0 star item because it is not user-friendly enough to understand more than one function without more in-depth car knowledge.
