Western Digital WD Purple 8TB Surveillance 3.5" Internal Hard Drive, AllFrame Technology, 180TB/yr, 128MB Cache

I bought this as it details that it is designed for long periods of service.. presumably that means a longer service life.Easy to fit works like normal SATA drives.

Installed in cctv dvr as replacement for failed hard drive. So much more quieter than previous Seagate Skyhawk.

I was suspicious when the drive arrived in non-antistatic bubble wrap.Nevertheless, I proceeded to install it an power on my system (UDM Pro).I was shocked to see that it had already been running for 2368 hours - this is not a new drive.Item returned.

Connected the the hard drive to the dvr the drive started to star up and spin .It then started to make a scratching sound, Also wouldn’t recognise the hard drive.I then put back in my old hard drive and it worked just fine

I purchased 4 drives and 2 failed in 4/5 monthsWD do not even send a pre paid label for their faulty product.
