IMO....waste of money and time
Urban Shock did nothing for me when I tried to remove Midnight Jade Splat (dark green). It was like I had used NOTHING! The green was still the same, my natural growth was unchanged. Don't waste your money or time! (I'm still trying to get the green out!)ALSO: THIS IS A NON-RETURNABLE ITEM! DON'T GET STUCK WITH IT LIKE I DID!!!

NOT ENOUGH FOR LONG OR THICK HAIR
I was excited to try this, as I wanted to remove old blue and start fresh... Bad choice. For the price, you don't get anywhere near enough product. If you've ever used color x-change or a similar product (or even like a vitamin c soak) it's a similar consistency. Does not spread throughout hair so if you're like me and have shoulder length thick hair, you'd need AT LEAST three tubs of this to even cover your hair, much less saturate it.It smells MUCH more strongly like bleach than the actual wella bleach I used when this failed me. Like, the fumes were overwhelming. Didn't really seem to damage my hair though, just pretty drying. It did lift a moderate amount of color in the places I managed to get it covering, but still only turned the dusty blue into a weird slightly lighter green. After I used this, I had to slather on a bunch of oil and such so that I could follow it with a bleach bath, which *actually* lifted most of the color.Don't waste your money, honestly. Just do a bleach bath and you'll get better results at a MUCH better cost. This tub should've cost about ten bucks for what it did, not 30+. The only person I'd recommend this to would be someone with very very short hair trying to half-remove vivid colors from their hair but can't use even a bleach bath because they're too far damaged. But at that point I'd suggest just using a vit c bath or something to save money.Just not worth it at all.

Great product to removed direct dye without lifting natural hair color (Arctic Fox)
This did an excellent job removing blue from my hair (Arctic Fox Aquamarine and Poseidon) and did not lift the natural pigment from my hair at all. I'm really impressed. I was hesitant to try this because the lack of reviews, but I really wanted something that wouldn't lift color from my grown out roots. Very pleased with the end result. It is pretty drying though, so be sure to plan some deep conditioning sessions before and after. I didn't notice any protein damage though, just dryness. It took two applications to get every bit of blue out, but it did work. I think the first time I took too much time applying the product and it dried before putting on the processing cap, which may be why the first application didn't get it all. The second time I used plastic wrap to cover sections as I finished applying the product, and that seemed to work better. Both applications I left the product on for about an hour before washing my hair.I used the entire container to do two thorough applications. My hair is a bit past my shoulders, fine texture but lots of strands.I hope this helps someone else looking to remove bright direct dye! I don't usually do reviews, but I had such a hard time finding product recommendations that weren't just bleach that I thought I'd share my experience.

This stuff works!
Urban Shock DDR is a lifesaver!! I only had to use it once to get 99% of the color out of my hair. I used 3 scoops (it comes with a scoop) for my hair, which is more than I expected to use because my hair is pretty thin. Left on as instructed for 30 min with a hair cap. A few important things to note: it does smell like bleach, so it probably is very similar to bleach. It did not lift my natural hair at all. Wear a cape or a shirt you don’t care about just in case though. It did dry out my hair quite a bit during the application, but after I rinsed it out with a clarifying shampoo, followed by Olaplex shampoo and a deep conditioner, it now it feels great again. Just be prepared to do a treatment for your hair after rinsing it out fully! The color I was removing was pulp riot, in case that’s helpful info to anyone out there. Lastly, for anyone purchasing hair products like this on Amazon, I recommend checking the rating of the sellers on here before buying too, because I’m sure there are fakes out there. Will definitely use this again!

Good if you want to look like an orange
I took a chance and tried this product after looking at some of the reviews. I have naturally darker blonde hair with a few salon highlights in it. I added a few streaks of Arctic Fox purple rain and virgin pink to the ends of my hair for the summer. After having the colored portions for about 6 months I decided to go back to my normal darker blonde hair and to remove the Arctic Fox. Let me tell you, that purple and pink faded on it's own quite a bit but that last little bit wouldn't budge. I finally bought this product and put it on my ends to hopefully remove the last of the purple and pink. After applying the product and letting it stay on for the allotted 30 minutes, I washed my hair to find that my hair had turned fluorescent orange. Even the parts that were blonde without the purple and pink turned orange. I had to go to my hair salon and after 3 hours in the chair, my hair is no longer the color of an orange highlighter. Not only did my hair turn orange, it really dried it out and I am now doing Keratin sprays and deep conditioners at home to salvage what I can of my hair. This product definitely has a bleaching agent in it. Stay away unless you want to live dangerously!

Got the color out, but lightened my natural hair too
It did an excellent job of getting the Arctic Fox color out of my bleached hair, but... It says it does not lighten natural hair, but that's a lie. I used a brush to put it on the colored part of my hair but it seeped up into my roots and lightened them as well, unevenly.

Worked a lot better than I expected
I had a variety of pinks and purples in my hair prior to using this product, it smelt very strong like bleach which was concerning. However it was very drying but not damaging. Highly recommend this.
