I'm really happy with this key, works flawlessly for me. However, you have to know what you're buying and why you're buying it. I have to use Microsoft MFA, Okta MFA, and a few other multifactor log-ins for work and life. This makes things way faster and easier than trying to find my cell phone and opening the Google Authenticator App. This is also a lifesaver when Microsoft makes you sign out and sign in over and over. Plug it into your PC or MAC, log into whatever service you use, and in your security profile add this key as part of your multifactor authentication. You'll be prompted to make up a PIN code and then be told to touch the key. You will still have to log in with your username and password on supported websites, but you should be able to just type your pin and touch your key instead of messing around with one time passcodes. If you lose your key (or don't have it handy), you should still be able to log in with your Google Authenticator, if you have that set up. Pro tip: You need to buy two if you want to use this with your Apple account, because Apple is convinced you'll lose your key.

When new, it worked about 80% of the time. I had a hard time registering it with various auth providers but after enough attempts it was mostly usable. After about 6 months now it only works about once every 5 tries even though it was used very infrequently (about once every 2-4 weeks) and was babied/stored in a drawer. It's next to useless, don't waste your money.

The Identiv uTrust FIDO2 NFC Security Key is my first USB security key. I only bought one at first, I was not sure if it would work for me. Setting up the security key was straightforward. I went to the Hirsch website and registered my key, this way I was able to view key's serial number, which is also printed on the key, but the s/n could wear off over time. Then you have the option on the website to change the default failed PIN # attempts. It is defaulted to 8 failed attempts. Also on the website you can change your PIN #. I used the Identiv uTrust FIDO2 NFC Security Key for a few days with no issues, worked flawlessly. Then I ordered a 2nd Identiv uTrust FIDO2 NFC Security Key. I really like the NFC tap and go. It's really quick and convenient.

Be aware that this key is not like the others and is nowhere near as fast. I also need to unplug and plug it back in frequently, as most reboots fail to recognize the key. I’m not sure if this is a defect or simply because the device is different from others. From my research, it seems to be an issue with this brand. That said, it works great on my server as a security device, requiring me to be physically present to access root. However, it doesn’t include the metal reinforcement in the ring hole, which would have been a nice addition. It would also have been helpful to attach an extension to make it accessible outside the server. I’ve made do with putty and a wire, but I could have avoided the putty altogether if the ring hole had been reinforced with metal.

Bout this as a backup key. Perfect for my needs.

This requires a bit on knowledge with computers to get up and running smooth. Mine keeps forgetting what it is and the app won't reset it for me. However I don't know if that is the key or the user. My guess, the user. Product seems fine.
