Try it /it has a nice taste
A nice / and tasty meat product, i taste it from the can, crunchy and had a nice taste, I don't soak it in hot water,I just add it in the food I am sauteing,so i dont lost the flavor. I will keep this seller and brand in my list. I will buy again. Seller:don't change the recipe, and make sure the crumble are big.

Excellent Product, Super Delicious!
I have tried other Mountain Essentials food products (BTW I love their Powdered Eggs, they are the best!!) and this is yet another winner. This is a great choice for an emergency, especially for sheltering in place or evacuating by vehicle but I am using it for my daily meals. I promise you, it tastes great! It rehydrates into delicious diced beef and tastes just as good as fresh. You also can't beat it for convenience. I have added handfuls to beef-flavored rice, Ramen noodles and other meals for extra protein. I like it as I wanted something other than a #10 can to work from. I can carry this easily on my camping trips. And the fact that this actually lasts a long time is great. It is very good value compared to fresh meat. Simple, easy and ready to eat as you like. I bought a few pouches for my extended family and they all loved it too!

Beef takes a long time to reconstitute.
I've use freeze dried beef chunks before with varying quality. These are pretty good but it's best used in something you can simmer. Beef chunks versus ground beef takes a long time to rehydrate and you will get some crunchiness if you expect to just throw in with hot water in a pot or pouch for like 10-15 minutes. I like it for doing large batches like in group of 4 or more I let it simmer in the pot for a while first before adding other ingredients.

Tastes "off"
I rehydrated and used it in a cassarole. Has a funky "off" taste. I may try and dehydrate my own but if it tastes like this one, I will just stay with my pressure canned ground beef which is really good.

Easy for soup
I put this in soup, it gave the soup a meaty flavor. I also thought about scrambling it with some eggs, but I figured it would be easier to just throw in soup. It worked well and I didn't have any issues with the texture or flavor.

Good sausage taste rehydrates fine
Taste is subjective, but these tasted better than average for dehydrated crumbles, and worked well in pasta dishes and soup. As a dried item this doesn't need refrigeration, which is very helpful for off-grid cottage use. Nutritional content is a bit higher than I'd like for salt, but that's not surprising and is good if you're doing hiking or for summer heat. Much easier than packing in raw sausage and less space than precooked sausage too.

Dehydrated chicken gristle
I've been buying another brand and decided to be cheap and try these. They are inedible. I got sent a bag of dehydrated chicken gristle.

Smells and tastes familiar pork sausage
When you open this bag, you smell the familiar pork sausage. The bits are irregular in shape and size, so dry and light. Freeze-dried food is perfect for hiking and camping. Put a portion in a ziplock bag, keep it in your pocket, and nibble on it while hiking. It's a good snack as is, but it'll absorb moisture from your mouth, so it's better to have it with some drink. It tastes just like fresh pork sausage. Its seven-year shelf life makes it great as an emergency food stock. I rehydrated some and cooked them with eggs; they rehydrated enough by immersing them in eggs, but the package recommends that you rehydrate them in hot water. It has a great spicy flavor (not spicy hot). If you like pork sausage, this would be a great item to have in your pantry.
