Sea-Monkeys are a type of tiny brine shrimp created by scientists in the 50s. These sci-fi creatures' eggs are held in a kind of suspended animation called Cryptobiosis until you activate them in your Sea-Monkeys aquarium using the kit provided with every tank. Sea-Monkeys are an educational living science experiment that kids and adults have loved ever since they were created. Activating the eggs is a valuable opportunity to learn from seeing biology in action, and fascinating to watch for all ages. Once your Sea-Monkeys hatch you will be able to observe their full life cycle in real time, watching them grow as you feed them. Sea-Monkeys are a great present for children who want a pet. Your kids will learn the importance of caring for living things and their environment, all on a manageable scale.

Memories of my own childhood to share with my son
I hadn't thought about sea monkeys for 30 years. This is exactly the same set I had as a child. Easy to use and works! We're doing the online school thing this year and my son needed some brine shrimp for a biology lab. Since the school was out we ordered these rather than waiting. I used spring water and let it sit overnight with the #1 package then, added package #2 the following day.It took a couple hours before I saw the first living "monkey". We have a hand held magnifying glass that helped see them. I recommend one because the magnified bubbles on the case aren't that useful. It was fun to watch them grow. Once they were a little over a week old, they were big enough for our microscope lab. Worked perfectly.Of course, we still had many left over after our lab. The water is impossible to keep clean after awhile so I poured them into a clear vase that I've been using to root clippings from lucky bamboo and other houseplants. It had a bit of algae in it already and the monkeys LOVE it. They're so active and happy now. It's obvious how much healthier they are and I don't have to feed them. It's a symbiotic relationship. So...my son got to learn about symbiotic relationships in science too.A couple times a week we put them in the light of the window and enjoy watching them with the magnifying glass. Honestly, I think it's teaching empathy as well. We care for these tiny little "pets". Not abnormally attached or anything but we enjoy seeing them happy and watching them grow. I'm hoping we get baby sea monkeys.Eventually, the lab kit from school arrived and we hatched them and put them in with the others.Highly recommend as a fun family activity during quarantine.

Fun
Cool for the kid, they're really small at first. I noticed them after like 3 days, I thought they died a week in but I let it be, about a week later they were back. Much bigger and noticeable now. Doing fine

Disappointed
The product looked fine but it somehow was moist inside. The sea monkey eggs were all jelled and they did not work. We opened it after the return window and I have not heard a reply about getting it replaced yet. I hope the company replaced the sea monkeys, food and salt because my kids were really looking forward to it.

Great easy cheap entertainment
These were fun as a kid and even fun as an adult. Bought for mom and the family. The monkeys hatched in days, lived two months, and also had babies. Fun for anyone. Easy setup. Easy and no maintenance. Simply feed every few days. Worth buying!

Patience
Don’t let other comments discourage you, it’s worth giving sea monkeys a chance! I was also discouraged when my first hatchlings died within a couple of days. But for whatever reason I did not throw out the water, I left my tank alone for about a week after buying replacement packets and decided to look into the tank to see if by any life change there was anything in there and there were 2 babies that had looked about a day old or so, and they’re starting to grow a bit bigger. They make great pets because they’re easy to care for, inexpensive and do not take up a lot of space, you just have to be willing to be patient with them since there can be a few late hatchers. Also do NOT forget to aerate their tank once a day, do that and you’ll likely have a thriving colony!

eggs were able to hatch
The media could not be loaded. My sea monkeys hatch straight away I have a small portable heater that I put about 2 feet from it so the Eggs would stay warm and hatch quicker.

Don’t waste you’re money
It was fun for my 5 year old to have something to do during quarantine but I wouldn’t waste money on this again . We had maybe 3-4 little swimmers but died after two days.
