The arrangements are beautiful and challenging

As the church pianist for our Traditional service, I am always looking for music that our members can recognize, but with a new "flavor" to it. The unique arrangements in this book are full of beautiful harmony progressions and exciting sounds that often make it challenging for the pianist to be proud to perform. Mark Hayes' classical music background is evident as he inserts his techniques into a simple piece, therefore turning it into high performance-quality and making it fun to learn and play. Mark Hayes - please come out soon with a Volume 3 and a Volume 4!

He is my favorite arranger of gospel music. I have about 75% of his books and this one is also thrilling to play.

It is great for offertory in every Sunday worship. I think it is advenced level but not too difficult. I couldnt find any books more advenced than this. There are many intermediate worship books but not like this. I love this.

It's my own fault that this item wasn't exactly as I expected. Before I purchase a piano book on Amazon, I always browse music sites first so that I can get a complete song list, sample pages, etc. It's impossible to buy a piano book just by looking at the cover. Unfortunately, on Amazon, most of the times that's all you get. Every other site lists this book as coming with a performance recording by Mark Hayes, so that you can hear his interpretation and then perform the pieces accordingly. The ISBN numbers looked the same and everything, so I assumed I was getting the same book. Also, considering how high the price was on this as compared to the other Mark Hayes books, I also figured it just HAD to include the CD. Well, it doesn't. The markings are in the book (notations of which track #, etc), but there's no CD. For $2 more, I could've bought this from a music dealer's site and it would've included the CD. For the first time ever, I feel like I got a bad deal from Amazon. As far as the book itself, I was also a little disappointed. So far I've only found one arrangement I really like--"I'd Rather Have Jesus." Maybe the rest will grow on me. It's unusual, because my Mark Hayes books are my go-to arrangements. Volume 1 is dog-eared from use. Volume 2 looks more like it will be pushed to the bottom of the pile.

Mark Hayes arrangements just can’t be beat. I have several of his publications and I’m very happy with them. I feel this one is for a more advanced pianist as my skills are intermediate and will take some practice. However, it will be well worth it as this is a beautiful collection of hymns.

I like Mark Hayes arrangements normally but not in this book. Returned it.
