Gets the job done
I recently removed wood planks from an almost 1,000 square foot deck. The planks were screwed (not nailed) to the joists. I started out trying to dig through the layers of paint with a utility knife to find the screw heads and remove the screws. It was very slow, tedious work. And a high percentage of the screw heads stripped out and couldn't be removed after I found them. With literally thousands of screws to remove, I quickly started looking for my plan B.The deck demon was a game changer. I assumed it would work on planks attached with nails, but I was concerned about the screws. There was no need to worry. This tool made removing the old deck boards a fast and (almost) easy job. I did have to apply quite a bit of pressure because of the screws, but this tool is a beast and there is no way I could have damaged or broke it. Despite the old wood being rotten in some places and extremely dry and brittle in others (from sun exposure), I probably salvaged at least half of the deck boards. I would expect to salvage almost 100% of planks that are nailed on. About half of the screws came out with the boards. But the ones that pulled through the plank and stayed in the joist could easily be removed with the deck demon. And you are standing upright through the whole process so it is easy on the back and on the knees. The only complaint (and it is a small one) is that the tool relies on the plank being on both sides of the joist you are prying against. (And luckily it almost always is). But when you get to the end of a row, or if you have cut a plank at the joist for some reason, you cannot get much leverage with only one side of the tool under a plank. When you pry it twists and is somewhat ineffective. Like I say, a minor complaint versus the considerable value the deck demon brings to the job.It seemed a little pricey when I ordered it, but once I saw the bulk and quality of the took, I knew it was worth the money. I can see using this tool for many future projects and not just for deck removal. It is a big, heavy-duty pry bar, optimized for deck destruction. For me, it was well worth the cost.

Great Tool !!!
Makes pulling up old boards a breeze. Needed to flip the 2"x6" x12' boards on my 12'x 20' deck that were fastened with ring shanked nails. I was not looking forward to spending many hours on my 70 year old knees with wrecking bars and a hand sledge. Did a little YouTube research and saw similar tools demonstrated. Looked like a solution so I went to Amazon to see what they offered. Saw The Deck Demon and it looked to be well made and identical to tools costing quite a bit more money so I bought one.Best money I've spent in years! This is a well made heavy duty product that did not disappoint. The leverage and weight this tool provided popped the boards with very little effort. Each board took under a minute to be lifted and removed. Better yet it came packaged with silicone boots on the claws which prevented the underside of the boards I was reusing from being damaged. It will fit over doubled joists but just barely. I wish the claws were just a bit further apart to allow it to fit over joists that have spread a bit over time. All in all a great tool at a great price!

Simple tool for big job
My pool deck had become rickity and needed to be taken down and disposed. I started out by removing nails and screws, prying boards off with a 16" prybar. It was a nasty task that had worn me down in just a few hours. I thought "There must be a better way. Maybe a longer bar that would give me more leverage". So, I went onto Amazon, started a search that lead me to several solutions. The Angle Guard Deck Demon seemed to fit the need. So, I suspended my efforts, ordered the Demon and in just a few days was back at the deck ready to do some serious destruction. It was nothing less than amazing, prying off the deck boards with ease. On the more stubborn boards, and there were some, instead of trying to get the entire board to break loose I limited the Demon to just one screw. Once that single screw was lifted, the rest at that point easily released. Talk about the right tool at the right time...it was fantastic. The near four foot handle length offered excellent leverage. I am 80 years old and was able to disassemble the entire deck in just three days. Looking at the pile of rubble, I said to myself...you still have it!! The Demon delivered and provided the path to getting the job done.

Pries boards with ease, but might break them
I really like the heft and quality of this tool, it really makes prying boards super easy with its massive leverage. And pulling nails? You could use your pinky once it's latched onto the head of one.The only downside I've found is that it often breaks boards, especially when I'm trying to reclaim them from old pallets/prying too hard before the claw is fully seated under the board. But it definitely does what it advertises.
