Every house needs one sin e power companies do not give clean steady power and I had computers and heat pump motherboards burn up to low and high voltages before I installed one. No issues now for years!

It's Square D. Buy it, install it, and forget it. You will not find a higher quality standard than the D.

I bought two. One was in a sealed package. The second one had obviously been opened. Hopefully it was opened and put back in after someone looked at it and MLjust returned it. There is a small scuff area on it, so it may have been installed. I'm a certified electrician so I will test it before sending it back then perhaps I'll keep it and increase the rating..Update!...I increased the rating to 4 stars because I installed the one that the package had obviously been opend, and the green light came on so It should be fine.... I will be keeping it..

This is a type 1 meaning it can go directly onto the bus after the main breaker. The most I had to do for safety purposes was turn off the main breaker. Attached my wires with terminal ends per code add an additional neutral bus bar and it was done. Simple system. Let’s hope it does its job.

This surge protector is a must for protecting your home from power surges that occur during storms and power failures. We install these on transfer switches when we install new generators to protect against unwanted surges damaging the internal components of the generator and transfer switch.

I used a knock-out on the side and went straight to the buss bars at the top, just under the main 200A breaker with the two black leads keeping them as short as practical.I just hope it works to suppress surges.

The commercial/industrial electrician who installed the surge protector only had the power off for a few minutes. Can't say how it works. Can't say how well it works; we haven't been hit by lightening yet and I don't know how to tell if we've had other surges. Square D is a good, trusted manufacturer of electrical parts.
