With a little practice, I got it to sing. I watched a YouTube video to learn the technique. You hold the bowl very loosely in your hand or set on a padded surface, strike the hand hammer against the outside rim a few times to make it ring, then circle the hammer around the outside of the bowl while holding the hammer firmly - if you do it right, the sound will continue and the bowl will “sing.” It actually works much better when placed on a soft surface, such as a firm pillow. And once you get the hang of it, it’s really very cool. There are different techniques to change the sound, such as filling the bowl with water. I got the little 3” bowl and it’s really very pretty.

I really like this . It's a good quality. It's a little smaller then I thought it would be , but I still love it. Love the design. Wish it had directions on how to play it . I went to YouTube to see how to play it and hold it .
