Works well to slow down a fast eater
My dog recently had throat surgery and needed to slow down her eating. After the first couple of tries I was ready to throw it in the trash. But after a few days of practice it’s acrually amazing. She learned how to use and it really works. Word of advice use lots of encouragement and help spin the wheel in the beginning to encourage. I would sit behind her hold her paw an basically show her how to use it. She’s a pug so not able to use her nose for help. After a few days she was able to do it herself.

For us, better solution than food ball or labyrinth bowls
After a number of tries, we think this is the one. We have a 30# cockerspaniel who sets records for eating speed. I would joke about it, "Oh, Sydney finished in 6.2 seconds today; she's slowing down". We tried three methods previously, not counting my least favorite "Throw the food into the air and let her play pick-up-kibble". 1) Food ball, 2) hard labyrinth bowl, and 3) soft labyrinth bowl. Food ball kind of works, but is loud and uncontrolled once you let her loose. Hard bowl caused gum bleeding from her forcing her snout into the maze, and the soft style didn't slow her down enough. This one is working much better. She's figured out a few tricks, but it's been a significant enough slow down for us to notice. We align the hemispheres to have 2 small openings vice 1 large. On our carpet the base doesn't move around too much, but I understand the concern mentioned about it not being weighted and therefore top heavy. One thing we like is that kibble can go in the tumbler while we add frozen green beans and a spoonful of pumpkin to the base; still slows her down, but allows us to add other food and clean up is easy. No issues with her popping the tumbler up out of the slide-in; everything stays in place. Now if only we can convince her the thing doesn't magically create kibble from nothing.... she'll stare at it for minutes at a time, waiting...

Keeps cat from eating to fast!
My cat would chow down food so fast he would get sick and throw up, this has helped greatly with that issue. No more cleaning up after him all the time. Only reason I didn’t give it five stars was the whole size, really wish they had some kind of hole adapter or such to adjust it. Hole was a bit bigger than needed and used tape so less comes out at a time.

Returned this item. Big Failure.
Returned this item. This could have been so much better if the two pieces screwed together instead of just a quick snap. My dog figured out if he push his head from bottom to top, he could flip the ball out and it would split open and he could eat all the food. This gets an F.

Maybe better for smaller breeds?
I have a 4 mo Weimaraner. I purchased this feeder to slow him down and to give him something to do. I didn’t follow the month long instructions to “get him used to it”, I just put his meal in it and showed him how to use it. He got the hang of it right away. It holds up to 2 cups of food but I’m sure you can fit more inside (2 cups is just half of the container). The actual bowl part is a good size as well. What I don’t like about the product is the fact that on first use, my dog completely dismantled it by trying to spin the container. Food everywhere. Maybe it was just his over excitement to eat or maybe it was just because it was his first time to use it, idk. But, it is fairly easy to get the container off. It doesn’t “lock” into place, it just sits there. It’s also a frictioned spin so it doesn’t just spin uncontrollably. So, today, our second day using it he completely overturned the entire bowl. Not out of the ordinary for him but with a wider base on the food bowl, it was something I wasn’t expecting. But once I put it upright and he was spinning the container again, the food was flying everywhere with each spin. It wasn’t just pouring into the bowl, it was flying out as the container turned. He wasn’t “digging” at the container either, just hitting it with his paw.I will still use this for a while, maybe until I find something better because it still slows his eating down.

Be patient with your less than brilliant doggos!
The media could not be loaded. We have two fur babies, a dachshund that is too smart for his own good, and a chiweenie that's a little less bright. At first we were worried the dachshund's little arms wouldn't be able to reach but he usually stands to the side and can reach just fine. It did take him a couple days to figure this out, even though he has a treat ball that's similar (he's in the video). Our less than brilliant chiweenie took almost 2 months to figure it out, but now she's a pro! Every time we'd feed them, we'd use her paws to spin the ball once or twice to show her where the food is, and then leave her alone to work it out. She would usually just walk away and settle in on the couch, not very interested. Turns out she was over weight, and once she got down to the size she should be, she was a little more motivated to figure this thing out. She's not quite as graceful as the dachshund but she gets the job done! For dogs like her it's wonderful because it reduces the temptation to overeat. She spins until she's full and then walks away.

Not for large or strong dogs
We tried this a number of times with our 60 pound lab who eats way too fast. She's a little derpy so she never fully figured out how it worked, but eventually figured out if she nudged it enough or pawed at it enough, it would come apart and the food would go everywhere. We put it up against a wall so she didn't scoot it all over the place, but the wheel needs to both attach in the feeder better, and actually lock together. It comes apart way too easily and comes out of the feeder way too easily also.

Great product!
This is such a fun way for my lab to get his dinner. It slows him down and provides mental stimulation at the same time. It’s easy to fill and easy to clean. Reynolds loves it!

¡A mi perrhija le encanta su tómbola de croquetas!
The media could not be loaded.

Not Sturdy Enough
Great idea but the product isn't heavy enough to withstand any pawing. It simply falls over. Very expensive for what it is.

Favourite slow feeder
Both dogs love this. The larger (47 pounds) digs and gets her food. The smaller (12 pounds) has figured out how to knock the cylinder out and steal the larger dogs meal as it spills. Love that it is easy to wash and assemble, encourages slow feeding too!

Dispenses too many at a time
I like the idea but it only takes a few spins to deposit the treat
