Dot 3rd Generation Battery Base– Portable Recharger Dot Accessories, Black (Dot Not Included)

This is the 2nd one of these that I have had the 1st having finally failed after some 3 years and 8 months. The 1st one saw me through the long hot COVID summer of 2020 and I only ever managed to flatten it once. The device is left permanently on charge which is not necessarily idea for rechargeable devices (you wouldn’t do it to a mobile phone), hence I had absolutely no hesitation in replacing it like for like after the aforementioned failure and was absolutely delighted to find that it was still available.

Whether it's used or not. The battery still drains. Which is super annoying.

This was purchased as a Xmas present for my partner it's just been opened up this morning looks good,, busy fully charging it up

Excellent price & Arrived promptly. Should prove handy for enabling our old Alexa Dot to be used away from mains electricity - ie in the garden, the bathroom & on holiday where wall sockets can be few & far between & in the wrong place for using the dot. It’s a shame the clip & points can’t fold down in some way to make it more compact for storage & transporting but I suppose you can’t have everything.

So this is a very good solution to using your Echo away from mains sockets - I have used this in the bathroom and the Echo works just as normal. The unit feels solid and well made and matches the Echo really well. You need to charge it up first (you need to use your Echo original cable for this). The base unit will not power the Echo itself when plugged into the mains - it will always be working off the battery which is charged by the mains. This means that every time you want to use your Echo using the battery power it will need to reconnect to your wifi. It is further not recommended you leave the Echo on the battery base when not in use (presumably because this would mean the battery would be permanently being discharged/charged) resulting in reduced life.

Bought this not knowing what to expect ad there were no reviews. For what I paid I am impressed. The unit is neat and the Dot fits in it nicely. On volume 2 it played continuously for over 7 hours.
