Kalimba Lessons for Beginners with 50 Songs: Theory and Practice + Online Videos

I just got my first kalimba, and i'm looking forward to learning how to play, and this book seems to be the perfect introduction.

This is a Christmas gift so its not been used at the moment. It looks easy enough to follow and I will add to post once I know

Gave this to my adult daughter for Christmas and she was so happy to get one. I've never heard of them myself and wasn't sure of her reaction. Also gave her a song book. She works for a county prosecutor and days can be stressful; thought this would be useful for her to relax with after work.

Y’all can we talk about for beginners? Cool. But first: this is akin to a music book you would expect someone starting an instrument to get: it’s full of a selection of easy melodies in the right key for the instrument. That said, the “lessons” are a couple genetic pages on how to read music and a section of appregios. Neither the how to section and appregios nor the songs are in any way designed to help you understand how to play a kalimba. Other books have picked up talk about how the keyboard is laid out, use notation like numbers and octave dots along with the standard music notation, and hints and suggestion related to how to actually play this instrument. It’s an easy to play collection IF you know how to read music and understand that the bottom C in a song corresponds to the longest key on your kalimba. I’m learning my first piano like instrument after a lifetime of woodwinds. I was hoping for more of the actual basics of playing a kalimba. So I am marking this up with key numbers and dots to make following it easier. I recommend this approach, especially if you’re a parent whose kid is trying to learn this fun little instrument.

Beautiful sounds, easy to learn basic songs. My great granddaughter loves to hear this, when she waves to relax. Very well made.

Lovely and clear and easy to follow for someone who doesn't read music and is a real beginner

Fijn aangenaam boek om liedjes te leren met de kalimba. Wel voor mij een voordeel dat ik noten kan lezen. De letters staan er wel bij de cijfers niet. Ook de QR code is fijn, de liedjes die je niet kent kan je dan prima beluisteren.
