Cheap throwaway
Poor quality. Got it twice (the 2nd a replacement) and on both times, it fried out after a day's use. Avoid these environmentally unfriendly cheap connectors.

I have an older Dell Latitude laptop with only 1 HDMI output and I didn't think I'd be able to run dual monitors....wrong! This adapter lets me connect a second monitor via USB and it works flawlessly. When you plug it in, you're prompted to install a driver (which passed a virus scan) and then the monitor worked immediately. I wish I had bought this sooner! Update: I had issues with it sporadically not working. To fix, I searched online for the driver name it's using per the item description - "MSDisplay_v1.0.0.18" and saw that there was an updated version available (v2.XX). I downloaded and installed it which has fixed the problem. Just a FYI in case it happens to somebody else.

This does not support USB 2.0. It states it in the advertising but on the packaging is states USB3.0 only. I was looking for a USB2.0 as my computer is older. False advertising.

I purchased the KUPOISHE USB to HDMI Adapter for Monitor Windows 11/10 / 8, HDMI USB Converter because it was less expensive and, as described, appeared as if it would accomplish the same desired results as the more expensive USB to HDMI adapters. However, my experience was troubling. The item arrived as and when expected, in a plastic, closeable sleeve along with brief installation instructions. Following the installation steps was easy. There is, however, embedded in the connector itself a .exe installation file that must be run to install the driver software that will allow the USB to HDMI connection function to work. It was, and will be, installed in the location on a computer where most running programs are (in C: Programs). Not 10 minutes after installing the driver, I experienced what was an almost complete virus takeover of my computer screen and other functions, to the point where I could not even reboot or shut down. There were pop-up ads, multiple windows programs pop-ups, screen blitzing, desktop icons disappearing, and flickering that mimicked the start of motherboard failure. I had to unplug the computer - both power and Internet connection -, re-plug power, then take steps to run Repair Mode and select a restore point to recover. All was saved, and I immediately removed the connector, deep-scanned my C: drive for any possible remnants of the installation file folder and executables. The restore point automatically removed everything installed after that time. Be very careful when a product contains embedded installation software that can harm your device. Try first to use a test device. (Preferably one you can reuse by doing an OS reimage/reinstall or full factory reset for the next test.) Going into safe mode does not guarantee you will see any issues because it is a safe, contained environment that will protect instead of reveal. I cannot instruct anyone on which products to purchase, but there is a note on the ad page indicating this product is frequently returned; not certain as to why, but these notes can be a flag.
