Q: Can the carrier rack be pulled out of the folding mechnism and be inserted directly into the receiver to make it nearer to the bumper when loaded?

Yes. In fact, I use it without the folding mechanism most of the time. If I am hauling something (like my daughter's stuff to college, I use it without the folding mechanism to keep the load close to the car, and then I put the folding mechanism on and fold the tray up for the return trip.

Q: Do I need to purchase an additional item in order to fold the basket up when not in use? Does the box bring all is needed to stack up and take off?

Everything you need to fold it is included.

Q: Will this work on a 2020 Honda Pilot ?

As long as the hitch receiver is 2”, yes. If not you can use an adapter.

Q: I carry bikes on a receiver hitch bike carrier. Does this unit have a receiver so that I could attach my bike rack to the back of it?
