This is a quality tatting shuttle
It's lightweight, colorful, and easy to use. Well-made. It has a hook built in. No burrs on the plastic or metal parts. If you don't mind a clicking noise when you pull thread, this is great. The noise is why I knocked off one star as I prefer a silent shuttle. But that's just cosmetic. For its real purpose, it's top quality.

Great for beginners!
I like that it has two bobbins so you can have one already full of thread should you run out of it or if you want to use two colors at once. Very easy to handle also. I have another type but it is not as easy to handle as this one. Highly recommend.

Shuttle
I wanted to learn to tat, I'm still learning but this worked for me.

Great after shortening it.
I have smallish hands, though not the smallest. I'm a beginner at tatting, and couldn't work out why I couldn't push the shuttle all the way past the thread on my hand without dropping it.This isn't a particularly large shuttle, but it's too long for my hands. The solution: slice off the bobbin winder with a utility knife so the shuttle is smooth and tapered at the back. Because of the sturdiness, I could even more more material to shorten it further. I can easily wind the bobbin without it.I discovered that the shuttle is very sturdy, and it is now usable. Apart from the size, I think this is a very nice shuttle.

Pretty good
I like that it comes with an extra spool, and that they can be switched out, so you can go back and forth between projects. But I feel like the fact there's a metal hook on the end of this shuttle makes it really easy to accidental jab your hand, at least for a beginner like me.I think I do kind of wish I'd looked for one of the ones without the detachable spool, and without the metal hook, as they appear more ergonomic and easier to use overall. Sometimes the fact that the spool spins (and the thread isn't unwound simply by using, like in other shuttles) makes it a bit clunky if the spool doesn't want to spin for you in time, and from what I've seen I think it's overall a bit bulkier too, which makes it harder to maneuver. But it's definitely still a good purchase, and maybe once I practice more I might be happier with this type of shuttle.

Fun
Just learning this craft so I am pretty clumsy. Packaging could hold more info about product. I had to watch a YouTube video to find out the purpose of the non-hook end. Winding the bobbin is it's purpose!
