This was bought as a warning system in the event of a power outage for my partner's aquarium. I don't normally leave reviews but advice we would have found helpful is as follows1- don't buy a sim card yet, not even the one amazon says is usually purchased with this. Most want you to top up on a monthly basis. Wait until this arrives and use the one they suggest, for a one off payment which won't expire after a fixed period of time...2- don't panic when you see the very complicated programming manual. search youtube videos for how to set this up. It's as simple as texting Alertme to the number associated on your sim card3-this model is cheaper than a similar one as this one only sends texts! At the time of ordering we thought it was the model that calls you too. However, on our iphones we have got around this by setting the number as an emergency contact (so it will make a noise even during silent mode) , setting a long alert tone (so not easily missed, unlike a BEEP-BEEP), and repeating this alert numerous times until the message is clicked into.So far it has worked brilliantly. Never gone off when it shouldn't, and always gone off when we've tested it by killing the power.Hope this helps someone, and good luck :)

a nice product when it works. We cannot use it where we want due to lack of phone signal for the sim card

An excellent bit of kit. Very easy to set up (i used an o2 PAYG) SIM and its working exactly as it should. I have a nuisance tripping circuit at home and this tells me exactly when the power is off.

Installed this in our static caravan holiday home & glad we did as had major power problems a month later & this unit saved the freezers!

Great device. Using it to detect power outages caused by cable theft in remote locations.
