In fact, I loved it so much that I recently revisited the story as an audiobook. The duet format adds an extra layer of authenticity, making this a must-read for Quinn fans and anyone who loves a mix of sweet and steamy romance.

When Hattie’s boyfriend breaks up with her for…not being “entertaining” anymore, Hattie decided she’d get her revenge by taking all the stuff he stole from his boss and return it to its rightful owner, Hayes Farrow. Hayes was a rockstar who was known widely by everyone, and had a little bit of a reputation for being a playboy. Being back in the small town of, Almond Bay, Hayes finds, Hattie Rowley, a.k.a. his nemesis’s little sister on his doorstep with all his stolen things. With a little payback in mind, but also in need of a new assistant, Hayes offers Hattie to be his assistant. Hayes and Hattie did not like each other, but through the time spent together and being back in the beloved town they grew up in, it was the perfect setting to get those two together!You already know, I’m the biggest fan of Meghan Quinn’s books so I’ve been patiently waiting to start this newest series by her. Set in a beautiful, idealistic small town, it as filled it’s unique shops and interesting characters. Obviously, this story focused on Hattie and Hayes. When Hattie wanted to get her ex-boyfriend fired for stealing his boss’s things, the last thing he expected was to end up working for Hayes. I love a little boss/employee dynamic, which was intriguing to say for Hayes and Hattie. I went into this book expecting just a flat out good time, but Meghan caught my off guard with the emotional aspect to this story. If you’re the sentimental, sensitive type or just a sucker for an emotional storyline then prepare yourself. The family and relationships within this story all played a role in the overall storyline, and it was heartfelt, sad, and made me reflect on my own family.Hayes and Hattie didn’t have the best start in the story, but there was more to it. Apparently with Hayes and Hattie’s older brother, Ryland, they hated each other, and therefore by sibling association/ loyalty, Hattie was on team “I hate Hayes Farrow” too. As much as Hattie had always hated things about Hayes, she couldn’t deny the importance Hayes music had on her since she was a secret fan of his songs. Hayes even wasn’t the biggest fan of Hattie, with her sassy, outspoken, and lighthearted personality she wasn’t Hayes cup of tea at first. Until, Hayes started liking having Hattie around the house. Working for Hayes was the thing that brought Hattie in this situation, but through baking cookies together, having deep, meaningful talks, and overall enjoying each other’s company, it was clear to me that their feelings shifted slowly, but surely.As much as Hayes and Hattie started to have a stronger attraction and connection between each other, there was the hesitation to take it further on Hayes part. Hayes could have easily gone along with Hattie’s advances at first, but with the fact of her secretly working for him and not letting her siblings know about it, it caused an obstacle for him. I don’t mean to say it like it was an annoying thing for Hayes, but more so, Hayes didn’t want to cause Hattie to lose her family since they hated him. Add in the fact that Hayes didn’t want Hattie to be with him because he felt like he, “wasn’t worth it”, and there was a bit of angst to this romance. Have no fear because even with some of the sadness and depth to this story, there was still that fun loving humor and romance that I love how Meghan always brings to her books!This was a good mix of having a little bit of everything. From the hilarious moments sprinkled in, the lovely small town of, Almond Bay, interesting characters, and tropes such as, age gap romance and he’s a rockstar! There was just enough to pique my interest and more. I thought Hayes and Hattie were lovable characters, they each were dealing with their some heavy emotional issues. I didn’t expect this story to have some heavy topics mentioned in this story, but I actually think it created a stronger plotline to each of the characters backstory’s. Hattie and Hayes started off on the wrong foot, but once they became friendly, and eventually confessed their love for each other, it was lovely and fun to see how Hayes and Hattie were as a couple. I really enjoyed the characters and the tropes in this book, and I’m looking forward to reading more in this ongoing series!

I devoured this in one day! I couldn’t put it down. The turmoil, the passion, the love and loss. Oh my gosh this book pulled on everything in me. The tears just wouldn’t stop flowing. On to the next :)

This is my 1st book I read from this author. I enjoyed the Characters and Storyline. I could of done without all the sex scenes & sex conversations, the main reason I only gave 3 stars. I just skipped pasted all those pages which consumed most of the middle of the book unfortunately. I probably won't read another book from this author, I am not into the "Spicy" books.

This story really gave me chills and tore my heart to shreds at times. But as I have come to expect from Ms. Quinn, the HEA is well crafted and satisfying and leaves the reader loving the characters, and thrilled to have read the story.

Why you may ask?- Small town- Age gap- Rockstar romance- Enemies to lovers- Ex-boyfriend’s boss- Brother’s enemy- Boss x employeeNow do I needed more reasons? Nope. I was already sold on rockstar romance.“She’s made me realize what a heartbeat feels like again. A pulse. She’s made me breathe. Lifted my chin.Opened my eyes to the world around me when I’d done nothing but kept my head down since the moment my mom abandoned me.”The Way I Hate Him is a delicious mix of comedy, romance and everything in between.And I am going to say it, Hayes Farrow is officially my new favourite male character. And I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this book. It was emotional, sexy, and such a good time.Hattie’s grief over the loss of her sister (who was also a mother figure) was so raw, I could feel it.And the way Meghan incorporated scenes with so much emotional depth in the otherwise humorous narrative of the book, made the whole reading experience extraordinary.The chemistry between Hayes and Hattie was sizzling hot. The banter, the teasing and the spice! The spice, people! When I say you are going to learn a thing or two, trust me on this.Loved every second of this book, even though I was not a fan of the third act breakup, I still loved it, taking it as a necessity.Before I end this review, I’d be a God damn bad person if I don’t mention Maggie.“Maggie: Well, depends. You can show him how much you hate him by taking your shoe off and throwing it at him.”Yeah, so we need Maggie. More importantly, we need Maggie and Ryland!I also can’t end this without talking about Gran and the flower scene. Nope 😁I recommend this book to each and everyone of you. Read it. Read it. Read it!

Hayes Farrow !!! OH MY GOD <3 This might be my favourite Meghan Quinn book and since Right Man, Right Time exists… that’s saying a lot! I loved every single second of reading this, it took maybe 30% for me to know this was the easiest 5 stars and a new favourite.I am the biggest sucker for age gap romances and this one hit every spot! Hayes is so attractive, in all ways not just physically, and him as a boyfriend!! He was also just so caring, attentive and sweet in their relationship too. A hot rockstar, yes please - but a sensitive, mature, hot rockstar, one thousand yes’s. Oh my god, it was getting hot reading this. The spice is off the charts and probably the best Meghan has written, I’m obsessed with these two. Sometimes the spicy scenes can be good but you still just want to get back to the story but here… no no no, I could’ve read many many more because I just loved them.This book hits heavier topics than some of Meghan’s other books and it only made the story better, deeper and more compelling. There is so much depth and emotion to Hattie & Hayes, and her family too (who I love btw). They are so well written. I was feeling everything alongside these characters and I just wanted to give them all the biggest hug. They deserve the world.And let’s talk about the duality of this book too! I was laughing actually out loud so much (especially Maggie, my girl!) but I also cried ugly tears. Meghan’s writing is fantastic and so evocative. Cassidy’s letters… sobbing for her and Hattie Hoo and for all the Rowley’s. Cannot believe I just picked this up on the off chance, I should’ve known that Miss Meghan would steal my heart once again! Also the little nod to Ollie & Silas, I loved it <3Could not recommend more - rockstar, age-gap (12 years), small town, annoyance-to-love, boss/employee, grieving/childhood trauma, strong sibling bonds, romcom, SPICY!!! So excited to read more about this town and this family in the future.

OMGOMGOMG ILOVEDTHIS SO SO SOMUCH 🤩😱🥹.Listen, I’ve read a LOT of Meghan Quinn books and I always love them, but this??? GOD I AM OBSESSED, this along with Right Man Right Time and A Long Time Coming are my ultimate top three!What can I say? There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t love, the complex sibling relationships, the FABULOUS friendship between Maggie and Hattie, the charming gossipy small town, the hilarious grandmother, Hattie’s hurt over her sister’s choices after her passing, Hayes broken heart and trust in people, their banter, THE ROMANCE 😫.I laughed and cried super hard while reading this! It was angsty and sweet, dreamy and bitter, it was EVERYTHING, my goodness Hayes and Hattie OWN me 🥹

Okay this book started out good and I was loving Hayes & Hattie. They had good chemistry and the banter was very entertaining. The begining was great but I started to have mixed feelings. The last part was complicated. I felt like Hayes did not grovel enough. Overall I liked the book because the side charcters and the plot were really solid and some parts of the book made me laugh and cry. It was a good enough book but I did not like the conflict in the end.
