If your drain is already clogged, these are unlikely to help, as they are geared for maintaining a drain's clearance, by helping to break down organic crud as well as cutting the smell of said substances. Anything really nasty, such as a wad of hair, isn't going to be affected much, so something more heavy-duty will probably be needed. But they really work wonders with smell and general sliminess, and can make a difference on the long run! I used to have a great deal of trouble with stink and clogging before I started using these several years ago, and in a very small bathroom with elderly plumbing this was a noticeable problem. NOTE: If your pipes are narrow (as mine are), drainage may be slowed a bit right after putting a stick down the drain, but if you run a bit of cold water right after, it doesn't take long to clear on through.

I was excited about this low-effort way to keep drains clean (drop in a stick every month or so), but it dawned on me that my bleach shower cleaner might inactivate the sticks and sure enough, it looks like that's the case. I also use a peroxide-based mouthwash and it looks like that's a no-go, too. I really don't want to craft my whole (cleaning) life around these drain sticks, but it seems like it's an either-or situation.

I was very skeptical. I just moved into a new apartment and had a very smelly drain in the bathroom sink. At first I thought it was a sulfur smell coming from the water, but then I realized it was the sink itself. I put one of these sticks in the drain and I’m not kidding, within a minute the odor was gone. I was shocked. Just try this out, you never know if it might work for you!

These really do help keep pipes clear. We had a water machine at work that frequently clogged due to a very small outlet and small diameter drainline. I started putting small pieces of these sticks in there every few weeks, and we have not had a single clog since. I have had NO clogs in my kitchen sink, either (Septic system, often had backed up water in the line). It is not a replacement for good sink hygiene (stop pouring ramen noodles and grease down your sink!) but for sludge clogs, these are great!

Worked great in kitchen sink, but did work well in bathroom basin. Assume because the stopper was in there and seemed to slow the drain...but as mentioned did help the kitchen drain smell and keeping it moving!
