Not just a tomato puree .
I gave this a try after Gia's vegetable puree disappeared from sale.It is not identical but serves a similar purpose.70 % tomatoes and the rest is carrot, celery and unspecified herbs. It is lighter, moister than my memory of Gia's.I use it mainly for thickening the liquid from cooking vegetables.Unlike tomato puree it can be used to flavour a sandwich.I always lick the knife after I have made the sandwich! It does taste nice on its own.

Excellent
I love ortolina. Never thought I would be able to get it here in Scotland. I would go to Italy and fill my case with ortolina, just so I would have it. Not now. It tastes great, and it is a way of getting veggies into kids.

Great depth of flavour
So much more flavour than a straight tomato purée. Tastes very authentically Italian!

Ortolina - Delicious for Pasta sauce!
Delicious. I use it to make a quick sauce for my pasta. Put some Ortolina in a frying pan with some butter and heat for few minutes. Cook the pasta and when ready add to the frying pan, mix and add some Parmesan cheese for a quick and tasty pasta. Tip - if the sauce in the frying pan starts to dry while the pasta is cooking then just add some of the water from the pan you are using to cook the pasta!
