Good protein source, a bit on the sweet side
The German Chocolate Cake flavor has a good balance of chocolate and coconut, though it’s a little sweet for a protein bar. The texture is dense but not chalky, and it feels more like a meal replacement than a snack. It provides 20g of protein and includes MCT oil, which makes it more filling. The bar is best when eaten slowly or paired with water, as it can be a bit heavy. Overall, a solid option if you like rich flavors and want something that feels substantial.

Yummy Germans
This is actually crazy... Ingredients are unusual, but good... salmon protein, beef protein... Wow! The taste is like eating cake. It's really good. Melts easily in warmer temperatures but what can you expect... Calories are on the higher side for a bar, but once again, this is cake you're eating. I didn't notice any stomach unhappiness but I can also eat just about anything, a cement brick might be a good test! Good size, smells good, seems fresh. I like.

Good protein, but might need to sleep on the couch
These protein bars are pretty good. Good enough flavor, good macros, and I liked that they use a mix of animal proteins instead of just whey, which has a lower protein utilization of you're inclined to believe that stuff. The downside is this. When I eat one of these bars, I have the nastiest farts after. MRE must stand for Mega Rancid Eggs because that is what they smell like. This could just be something that I'm sensitive to in here, but to my knowledge I have no other food sensitivities, and no other foods/supplements I consume turn me into a highly efficient fart factory like these bars do. Otherwise they're great! I encourage you to try them and see how they work for you, you can always blame it on the dog.

Outstanding Lightweight Meal Bar
German Chocolate Cake flavor: Excellent Ingredients: The bars are more meat-based, which is what I want to get away from all the whey and soy found in similar products. There's still some undesirable ingredients for me like soy protein, soybean oil, sucralose, and titanium dioxide, but not as main ingredients. Beef, salmon, sweet potatoes, and blueberries are higher up on the list. It's a really good blend of ingredients, and it still somehow tastes like really good chocolate cake. Description: Easy to chew solid bars that are lightweight on the stomach. I ate two with a sandwich and chips, and didn't feel any bloating or inflammation or whatever. My stomach isn't considered sensitive though, so results may vary depending on your gut biome, but this should be softer on the stomach compared to some other brands' products. Price: $30 for 12 comes to $2.50 each, which is not bad at all considering the size and ingredients.

Do not try iced lemon cake
If I could give less then 1 star I would. I've tried all of the redcon mre bar flavors and this is by far the most disgusting. It tastes like cleaner. I've tried to give them away and no one likes the taste.

My All-Time Favorite Protein Bar Flavor
I'll admit, many protein bars often feel like just candy bars with added protein, so I’m not diving deep into the nutritional value or macros here—especially in comparison to other bars. That being said, I eat a lot of protein bars, frequently using them as lunch replacements on busy workdays. Out of all the protein bars I’ve tried, REDCON1 MRE Protein Bar in German Chocolate Cake is by far my favorite flavor. It’s the one I keep coming back to. The taste is rich and satisfying, and it genuinely feels like a treat, not just a "health snack." If you’re someone who values both flavor and protein content, this bar is definitely worth a try.

Mixed
[Review for the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough option] For my first test, I was starving by 9am, not having eaten breakfast yet. Took my first MRE bar. Haven't starved til 1pm. Albeit, I also had a bunch of other stuff: a corn, a banana, and a lil trail mix. Pros: - Looks like chocolate, tastes like chocolate, feels like a sturdy protein bar. - Nicely packed compact as advertised. Cons: - For an MRE, a 2022 expire date (bought 2021) sounds... pathetic. Gotta last +10yrs in case of apocalypse. That's what MREs are supposed to be for. - My img show package arrived with open sticker. Could be just due to age, or could be due to tampering... - (don't eat while reading this) I feel a slight potty tummy feeling down there 2-3hr after eating this. Could be a coincidence, or could very well be the bar itself. I can't quite ascertain. Will try a second time as a lunch replacement to see. The point of this is cuz I plan to do a long hike, and I can't have my travel food causing me to need to use the restroom frequently. - Also, not sure if it's cuz the bar is dry or just the moderately warm and dry weather, but I felt quite thirsty after eating this. Can't also be depleting my water stash during my long hike! Gripe: I noticed a disclaimer say this bar is NOT for weight reduction. I'm all like: ...we have a weight problem in this country (still)! 2nd day update: Tried again, this time as my lunch replacement. Did not get the potty anal feeling! So I'd say the food hasn't gone bad. Did not make me rush to the toilet. But still too dry. Ima just have to pack a plethora of water for my Half Dome hike~ Oh, I did get hungry after ~3hr. So I'd say 1 bar doesn't quite qualify as a "meal replacement". More like a 2/3 meal replacement. In other words, you'd have to pack maybe 5-7 bars to last a Half Dome hike and/or pack more extra food, too.

Delicious and satisfying
One of the things I enjoy most is German chocolate cake, and I'd never seen that flavor in a meal replacement bar. I froze the first box and enjoyed them very much. The second box I ate at room temperature and it was even better. The chocolate coating and coconut are dominant flavors for me. There are very crunchy crispy bits in the edges that are great. I have signed up for regular deliveries of this product. I take the time to eat these slowly so I have time to feel full. I generally have one as a meal replacement once or twice per day, with one low calorie meal. I'm down three sizes, so I'm happy.

My son is in the Canadian Army for high school co op and I sent these with him and his buddies for a base camp training. They were very thankful for the protein and said the flavour was good.
