It works great.
Love my synology! Can't wait to get more. Going to get the camera too! The unit just works great! Quality and value. Reads and writes fast. Can store loads of pics and shorts!

super
Installed it in my synolodge, so far it works without any problems. Too bad it's expensive, I would have bought 10 more. In my nonprofit I need to record a lot of video, I need a lot of space. I am satisfied with the hard disk!

compatible, quiet, not terribly expensive
OK, I used to have an old 1 bay diskstation which I just filled w/ whatever spare drives I had. Never any trouble, probably ran for 13 yrs w/ various drives demoted from my internal pc bays. Now i have a new synology 2 bay, and had endless trouble using spare drives in it. Reds were just unusably loud. Random spare pc disks consistently failed power on regularly (but only in the DS). In desperation, I got these synology branded drives and everything just works. So, I guess times have changed. Fortunately, these are quiet, work, and aren't even at a horrid premium as I expected them to be. So, I could have saved myself a LOT of time and a little money just going with these from the start, I guess, instead of trying to be cheap. Mixed feelings about that, tbh, but these work, are quiet, and reasonably priced.

Pricey but worth it
I got 2 of these for my NAS by Synology. They are really pretty quiet and I don't hear them as much as I thought I would. They load up fast and so far they seem like they'll hold up for a while. I know they're higher priced than some of the other options but you get what you pay for.

Don't spend the $
Bought 2 for a new nas. One died (just stoped responding) 2 weeks after it was installed. The nas didn’t even recognize the drive. Buy and use at your own risk.
