I'm genuinely pleased with this purchase. I was a little apprehensive about placing the order, due to reviews I read about it '...suddenly collapsing, so keep you fingers out of the way...'. I'm here to tell you this is not an issue with the unit I received. I've tried to bump it, jar it, even shake it back and forth - the top stays where it's put, with the weight of my 15.6" laptop. I could understand if someone is attempting to lower the top with the weight of a laptop on it, that it could/would "drop" suddenly. But I have no problem raising or lowering the angle with this sitting on my lap with my laptop in place. I've been looking for a design like this for a couple years. I use a wired portable external hard drive for daily backups and I keep it installed pretty much all the time, so not to risk interrupting the scheduled backups. I needed a laptop desk with a compartment to hold this hard drive, so it goes where the laptop goes as I move my laptop from the table next to my chair over to my lap and back again. This desk works perfectly for this with it's thoughtful storage compartment. This unit is well constructed using what appears to be quality materials. An added bonus I wasn't expecting is that my laptop does not slide around on the wooden top like it did on my former plastic laptop desk. - The box appears to be constructed of all wood or wood products. - The storage compartment is plenty roomy at just over 1/2 of the entire interior. - The hidable mouse pad is strong and is covered with a fabric that allows the mouse to glide effortlessly. When extended to the max, it does angle downward ever-so-slightly. - The foam covered wrist pad is firmly attached however, if using this desk at any of the angled positions, it really doesn't come into play much. I use this set at it's lowest raised level and my wrists barely touch the pad. If I close the lid, the wrist pad is perfect for me, but I keep the box open to prevent my external hard drive from over heating. - The foam on the bottom feels like it is a memory foam, but I can't know for certain. It is extremely comfortable on my lap. - Hinges are all metal, secured with screws. - The cabinet quality magnet that hold the lid closed is strong and adequate. - As a little bonus, a coaster that looks to be made of the same material as the box was included. If I have one minor complaint, it's that I'd prefer if the lowest angled setting could be a little lower, but I'm getting used to the current lowest setting. It does raise my screen up to eye-level so I'm not constantly looking downward. A couple of hints for the manufacturer for a "new and improved" model: - Attach a magnetic system to hold the mouse pad drawer in when not in use. (I may look into doing something like this to this one.) - Perhaps create a small dedicated slot in the side (maybe another on the back?) to allow a cord to pass from the inside, even while the box is closed. In summary, I would buy this again, and will recommend it to anyone looking for a quality laptop desk with storage. If you are giving this item consideration for the features it offers, go ahead, give it a try. Should anything happen to change my current opinion on this item, I will update this review at that time.

Comfortable Laptop Desk! I appreciate the ability to adjust the viewing angles. Also, the weight is perfect. Some customers complained about the weight, but when you place this down on a surface, it stays in place. I wanted a larger surface, but the ability to lower and raise the viewing angles is missing, so I am happy with this size and weight. To me, this Laptop Desk is more comfortable than a regular desk because I sit back in the chair with my legs up, and I am not hunched over. I can take this anywhere, and since I travel, I always have a comfortable place to work.

Gifted it to my wife and she loves it. It's perfectly size for her laptop and needs. The cushion hand rest prevent the laptop from sliding down. It is extremely sturdy and the magnet that keeps it closed it very strong, it won't just fly open, I had to actually try to open it. Has small storage on the inside, you could fit a small tablet or a mouse. Wife loves to use her laptop in bed and on the couch instead of the traditional desk so I thought I'd try this and I'm glad I did. I needed something that my wife would actually use and she is using it. Can't wait to use it as a bed snack table for movie nights👍

I took a look at lot of reviews and with a doubt decided to purchase this. Turns out this is perfect fit for my need. The mouse pad was not weak as I expected. It held firm on any position of the desk. The storage was enough to fit in few stuffs. Wrist rest also helps. It's soft. It's little bit struggling to open this to level it up, but not a problem. Oh and good cushion for my legs.

This is very well designed and excellent quality. There is a magnetic catch that keeps it closed. It is easy to pop open and the swinging arm underneath automatically slots into the first height slot when you lift it. Beautiful design! The surface has a nice grain effect making it feel much more like decent quality wood. The cushioned base and sides feel real nice and of a good quality as well as very comfy on your legs. I love the convenient storage space for my pens, glasses and holding my kindle and charger. I love using it to read my kindle or use my laptop. The experience has been wonderful. A great purchase.

The Vigo Wood Lap Desk is very well-made and feels solid and durable. I like that it includes storage for small items, which is a nice touch. However, it is quite heavy and bulky, which makes it less portable and a bit awkward to use compared to lighter lap desks. The cushion helps with comfort, and the adjustable angle is useful, but the overall size and weight make it less convenient for regular use. It’s a good, sturdy lap desk, but the heaviness and bulk keep it from being perfect.

Loved this lapdesk, it's soft but strong and very comfortable no matter if you're standing, sitting or lying down because you can adjust it accordingly. My son also loves using it for his tasks on the tablet. Very happy with my purchase.

I seen this and thought I would upgrade my current laptop tray for work. I chose this based on the amount of positive reviews there were. I regret that now! This tray is far from ergonomic, the mouse pad pull out try is so low that after only 2 days of use I'm experiencing severe pain in my wrist and forearm. I've never had this pain before and I work on my laptop everyday on my previous tray! Avoid if this is for actual work and not just browsing on your laptop on the sofa. Other than the mouse tray, the item is beautifully designed and super comfortable on your lap, which is even more disappointing
