Hiplok D1000 Unisex Shackle Lock

The spreading use of angle grinders by thieves has shown the need for locks like this. However, past efforts to create a lock that is easy to carry haven’t been successful. Altor created the SAF Lock a few years ago and it is very secure, but it is very inconvenient to carry around because it is so large. Altor has apparently stopped selling that lock anymore, but I keep mine at home to lock my e-bike so I don’t have to worry about thieves breaking into my home and stealing it.I watched the Kickstarter campaign by Hiplok as they developed the D1000 with great interest. It’s small and light enough to be carried in my backpack, making it perfect for me. When I was finally able to save up enough money to buy it, I did.Yes, it is more expensive than other bike locks, but it offers more security than any other lock can provide with its resistance to angle grinders. So, anyone who wants to complain about the price should compare the price of the D1000 to the cost of buying themselves a new bike.

Hiplok’s D1000 is an AMAZING lock! It’s hefty, well-built, and protects ANYTHING you use it on. This thing is intimidating to any potential micromobility thief!A minor complaint I have is that turning the key to close the lock has sometimes been surprisingly difficult. Most of the time, the key turns like butter. However, there are times where the key just doesn’t want to turn, getting stuck about halfway through. My best tip to get around this is to make sure the crossbar is REALLY pushed into the shackle before trying to turn the key. It doesn’t feel like there’s much room for error when locking the crossbar onto the shackle.The main drawbacks come from the build of the lock. As mentioned, this lock is fairly heavy. The thick metal and silicone reflect the build quality, but weigh it down significantly.What I consider to be the biggest drawback is the lock’s length. 95% of the time, it’s no problem, but if what you’re locking is thicker or what you’re locking it on doesn’t allow the micromobility to be flush against it then it may give you some problems.Overall, the Hiplok D1000 is an amazing lock totally worth the money.!

Although the weight of this lock is a downside, as it is a little over 3 lbs, the lock functionality is smooth and it's easy to use. It's build quality is among the best.

So my thoughts on this lock . I had some personal reasons that I didn't want to like this product. But I must say , this lock was nothing but awesome from the moment I opened my amazon box. The smooth looking packaging, feel,look,and weight. The silicone feel was amazing and solid. I didn't want to put it down. The weight was right on . A solid strong piece of craftsmanship. Your hold on it is so comfortable , you could use the lock to defend yourself if need be 😄😎. No BS! You can shake it and there is no click clack sound , just solidness . Yup it's now a word 😎. And did i mention it's nice and compact, so im sure this lock would fit in most bags. This truly is a premium product. So you may ask, why I didn't give it 5 stars. I didn't give it 5 stars because , I needed it for my fat tire bike and it doesn't fit . So I had to send it back . Just a lil wider , it would be perfect. So now im forced to go with Litelok. But I know it's not going to look or feel as good as a hiplok . The hiplok will fit other bikes perfectly. But I need it to fit a fucare, so I'm limited on where I can place it on my bike. All and all, I highly recommend Hiplok 👌.

I know its expensive, but protect your investment. This thing is beefy and has a quality rubberized coating so it wont damage your ride. Extremely high quality with high security keys.

I was hoping to use this D1000 to lock the tire with one of those bike covers with the pass-through holes for the lock. I is not wide enough for the 4" tire to fit through. I recommend the DX1000 and it has larger dimensions. Other than that, Very solid lock. I hope it never gets put to the test but I'm more relaxed with a lock of this durability.

This particular hip lock is pricey however its heavy & we assume it cant be sawed off like our other handcuff lock.Reviews & videos on YouTube are helpful bfr u purchase it.I also think they offer a money back guarantee.🤫

I’ve gone through 5 different locks. Every single one was broken into. This is the only one thats worth every penny! I love it!
