Worked like a charm
Used this to replace the printhead on our GK420D thermal printer that was going out and this makes the printer print like new again. The print quality actually looks a tad sharper now. Easy to install, just look up on Youtube, took less than a minute to swap out.

Zebra GX420d print head replacement
Works great. I just put it in, turned it on and starting printing.

Did not seem "Genuine" to me, failed after 1 week
Got the item, it did not look the same as the genuine Zebra OEM print head that I pulled out of the GK420d printer. I began to suspect the part. It installed easily enough, and worked for a few days and about 50 some prints with no issues, But after a week it started printing so dark that the lines on the labels had a heat bleed to them and the barcodes printed by the print head were unreadable by any of our barcode scanners. I had to put back in the old original print head that would print with lines missing because at least SOME of our labels could be scanned with the failing old print head. This "Genuine" part was useless to us, so I purchased a REAL GENUINE OEM print head from an official Zebra Partner, and returned this piece of junk.

Light print
These are a lighter print than the standard OEM ones but are a good price. If your customers are okay with the light print these should not be a problem. Easy to replace and good fitment for the wires when they connect. No issues yet and are much cheaper than OEM.

Fixed My Problem
Not an installation for the faint of heart - be bold and you can do it! Put the printer on its back, mouth open. Find the piece that looks like this part and pop up the little plastic lever by one side of it. The print head will now be loose. Wriggle it out gently, paying attention to how it was in there. Disconnect the two tiny strip connectors and replace with the new unit. You will need a thumbnail or probe to get them loose. Careful which side goes up. Be sure both sides are slid all the way in. Slip the head back in until it clicks. Press down on it to make sure it feels like it is on springs. Not so bad, huh?
