This feature is designed to take the play out of the arm for improved feel. It also makes for quick and easy arm installation: Push the arm in and screw it around once or twice to engage a couple of threads and you're ready to play. The block's internal precision-reamed Delrin bushing provides a bearing surface for the unthreaded portion of the arm, improving feel while minimizing risk of arm breakage.
