Monster NCredible NTune On-Ear Headphones

My friend got a pair of these and I listened to 5 seconds of a song, and I knew I had to have them. I went to a store with my iPod, and put it through tests of music that I would want to listen to including Metal, Electronic, Punk Rock, Hard Rock, and Classic Rock, and I didn't find a single song that sounded bad. These headphones are also very durable. You can bend them straight, and then twist them, and they won't snap at all. The ear cups have very nice padding on them that is very soft and cushy, and is almost a half inch thick, and the ear cups themselves can pivot, to conform to your head, which makes for an even better listening experience. The finish is perfect. It's literally a mirror finish. And the sound quality, imagine Beats by Dr. Dre, but with more definition, and more crisp low end, and much more durable. Also, the cable that it came with is untangle-able, and a very nice length, and it has 1 button on it that serves multiple functions that I haven't really figured out. The packaging that it comes with is outstanding, including magnets so the box stays closed. My favorite part of these headphones, (other than the sound) is how lightweight they are. When I was tracking them on UPS the packaging weight said 2.10 lbs, and that was packaging and all (I got a lot of packing peanuts). You could easily wear these around all day comfortably. Overall, if you are looking for an outstanding pair of headphones and were looking towards Beats by Dr. Dre, shame on you. You need to try these out.UPDATEThey broke. My friend has gone through 3 pairs, and another friend who got these is about to break his 2nd pair. You know where they broke? Same place every time. Where the metal plate on the headband is. Monster, if you are seeing this review, get rid of that metal piece. It's making perfectly good headphones into 2 pieces! If you're looking for a better pair of headphones at less than half the price, Audio Technica ATH-M20X. I'm wearing them as I write this review. GET THEM.

My 9 year old son didn't have much on his Christmas list, so I asked some of his friend's Moms what their boys were asking for. They said "Beats". I looked into those and had heard about them on the radio. I started seeing kids with them and saw them in the stores around the holidays. I read some reviews on Amazon and saw that they really weren't worth the price and were more of a brand thing because they were so hyped up by the marketing. I really didn't want to spend $200 plus on something that he really didn't even have on his list. That is when I saw the Monsters and read the great reviews. People said Monsters sounded much better then the Beats and liked them much better. I asked my son if he was interested in Beats and he said "no". He has an iPad and LOVES music, so I took a chance and purchased these in the blue. I figured for $79 with free shipping, the price was right and even though he didn't ask for headphones, he might use them, especially if everyone was getting some for Christmas. He LOVES them and uses them all the time! I love that I was able to get him a surprise gift that he loves and gets so much use out of. The cushioned ears are so comfortable and the sound is exceptional. I would definitely buy these again. They are well made, come in great colors and compared to Beats, are so much cheaper. I cannot comment on the sound quality or comfort of Beats from personal experience, but these Monsters are the bomb. Unless you are a brand and hype person, I would give these a try.

If you want to listen to instrumental works, these phones do a nice job. However, if you add in vocals, most of the time the vocals sound like they are being sung at the other end of a tunnel. Also, these phones do not have a left ear/right ear designation. Although you can plug the cable into either earpiece, the sound is better on one side than the other, and, having listened to music through numerous and varied headsets, I can tell you that is the left side. This is the side where the singing will sound like it's coming out of a tunnel. Plug into the other side, and the vocals are barely audible. Even on the left side the background vocals overpower the lead vocals. All in all, even though these phones put out very good sound for instrumentals, if you listen to a variety of musical types, I would suggest that you find different phones or else rely on these only for your instrumental listening experiences.
