Never Along The Same Lines It Would Seem!
I think that I have made my thoughts known about the ridiculous amounts of live albums that JB has out there (with even more to follow, it would appear!) However, that said, being the consumate performer that he is, he would appear to be aware of the "similarities" and therefore on this outing, has opted for the Big Band sound by incorporating backing singers and, moreover, a rather meaty horn section....and does it work - you betcha!Despite not wanting to like this album (and I did wait some considerable time for the price to drop to the point where I would make it's inclusion into my collection) I have found that it's been stuck in my car player now for the best part of two weeks and it's keeping some rather good listening at bay because it really is a fabulous album!OK so we have songs here that we've heard before (and better) but in the overall context, this is a really good example of a musical trooper wowing the fans with some evocative riffs and fluid, muscle bound solos that are never repetetive - witness if you will Breaking Up Someone's Home, and you'll see exactly what I mean (I thought the Kenny Wayne Shepherd version along with Warren Haynes was THE version....but now, I ain't so sure!)Yep, put this one down as a class live blues album - but get it only if it's cheap!!

This will get you up and dance
There may well be some dissenters saying is this really a Joe Bonamassa release? Is it Joe playing the guitar and why would he take a back seat to the brass instruments being played? My gosh their may also be some dissenters saying, "why are there gospel voices "? To those narrow minded individuals I say this, it is not just about a guitarist, or individual instruments, or the vocals, what it is all about is the blues in its many different styles!I am by no means an historian when it comes to music. What I learned in listening to the blues is that it comes from the soul. I have also learned that there are blues that are delta blues, gospel blues, blues that went onto to inspire many rock bands. What this live release achieves is to incorporate blues, funk, soul, gospel, blues/rock, rock ,soulful blues, and boogie woogie. Ofcourse, when Joe plays guitar he shines, but that is only part of the truth.

Blues staple.
This is a pure stonking CD. Not a bad song featured. Joe has done it again with some beautiful and powerful renditions of blues classics. The peak in my humble opinion has to be Hummingbird. You need this album in your collection.

Breathtaking performance!
There are some live albums (Pulse, Seconds Out, Made in Japan to name just 3) which are in a league of their own. This is one of those. The band behind Joe are rocking, the backing vocalists are swinging and Joe is just in an alternate universe with his playing. After listening to this album you're going to be a very happy person. BUY IT!!

but I love Blues and played with such a fabulous band
This guy just does not do 'average.' Very much a 'Blues' cover song show, but I love Blues and played with such a fabulous band, songs etc. it's fantastic! Joe's guitar playing is, as ever, brilliant - touch, tone and taste in abundance. I love it! Buy it!!
