Product Description One of television's most highly acclaimed comedies returns for another season that proves that life begins at 50. Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia are the Golden Girls: four mismatched Miami house-mates who look out for one another no matter what misadventures come their way. It's a season filled with romance, dating catastrophes, a wedding, and more Elvis impersonators than you can shake a stick at. Now you can experience every hilarious episode from this unforgettable year on this complete DVD set. Enjoy special appearances by guest stars Bob Hope, Julio Iglesias and Quentin Tarantino in a comedy that's pure gold. .co.uk Review Long before reality-show staples Big Brother and The Real World tapped into the drama and high-hilarity of cohabitation, the long-running "Golden Girls" paved the way into that prime-time show format. The only difference is that Golden Girls was pure fiction. Season Four stays true to the format that earned the series three Emmys and a Golden Globe Award: three widowed/divorced friends in their '50s and one octogenarian mother and grandmother all share a home and their retirement in Miami, Florida. In a season that includes a UFO sighting and government cover up; the implications of drug addiction; a late-in-life wedding; the ridiculous '80s aerobics craze--spandex, headbands, leg warmers and all; a nightmarish nursing home; lesbianism; an intergenerational love triangle; and a trip to Rose's mythical St. Olaf; the episodes in Season Four are more entertaining and often downright risqué. There are some notable cameos as well--Bob Hope steals the show in "You Gotta Have Hope" as the featured talent for Dorothy's hospital charity show; Richard Mulligan of Empty Nest bridges the spin-off link as the girls' newly widowed neighbor and object of Blanche's advances; Jay Thomas plays an overactive director in "High Anxiety," where the girls' kitchen is used as a TV commercial set; and blink and you'll miss a young Quentin Tarantino as an Elvis impersonator in "Sophia's Wedding". Overall, Season Four is zestier and much less earnest than previous seasons, which is exactly what works about the series: the bawdier the grandmothers, the funnier the show. --Gabi Knight

Season 4 ruined.
Seasons 1, 2 & 3 were fine. They were spread over 4 disks.Season 3 was in stereo as seasons 1 & 2 were done in mono. Now what happened to season 4?It had 26 episodes spread over 3 disks. 8 episodes on one disk and 9 episodes crammed on to the other two.The picture quality was appalling because of the cramming. For the sake of an extra disk they ruined season 4.To make matters worse it was also presented in mono.Season 3 in stereo, season 4 in mono! I don’t think so.Rage.

One of a kind comedy
Given the age of this series I was expecting it to have run its course and aged like the actresses, how wrong I was. I have watched many comedy shows from the 80s and the humour was topical and good at the time, but is no longer relevant. With the Golden Girls, the jokes, wit , quips and sarcasm are just as fresh today as it was when the show first aired.I would never have thought that I could watch a sitcom that started in the mid 80's and was based around 4 women in their golden years all living in the same house. Yet from the first episode to the last it had me regularly laughing and always looking forward to the next episode. There is a perfect cast and each play their roles in such a believable way. Rose - dippy, Blanche - man mad, Dorothy - sarcastic, and Sophia (Dorothy's mother) - plotting schemes to make a fast buck.It isn't a show that will have you rolling around on the floor, but it is one that will make you chuckle and feel happy, warm and fuzzy.

Prepare for the golden days.................................................. again
The Girls are back in this 4th installment of the classic unforgettable seris, the stories are great the jokes are brilliant and the way they tackle the sensitivity of controversial subjects through the comedic aspect is brilliant, theres episodes that deal with homosexuality, isolation, growing old,Aids and many more controversial things but its always done well and never loses the element of comedy.its great and if you like me have season 1 2 3 then definetly get number 4. im only 20 years old but i remember golden girls its hard to forget a great classic like this. the girls look great and the adventures are super.the set is always warm and watching it kinda fills you with warmth and relaxes you i went through season 4 while sick at home with the flu and i never felt better.its an excellent catch so catch it while you can.GO FOR THE GOLD.

GG season 4 (region 2), great content not so great quality
First of all, I am so happy that the episodes are uncut! For years, I never really understood the conversation Rose had with her younger sister Holly in the episode "Little Sister" - this was in syndication on Lifetime in the US. Now that it is clear the syndicated version cut out big parts of the conversation, it finally makes sense on the DVD! Now for the bad news. I have seasons 1, 2 and 3 (bought in Finland, also region 2) and the menus are perfect. I'm not sure if I got a bad copy or not, but there seems to be a slight delay in the menus and when I switch back to the menu from an episode. To me, however, it's not really not worth exchanging it for another copy, even if it is just a manufacturing flaw for the set that I have. Maybe it's supposed to be like that. Other than that I'm happy with it!
