Great sound,
Bought this to upgrade from a Yamaha 4c mouthpiece on my old sax, as I had purchased a 1937 selmer, and the Yamaha sounded thin. This new mouthpiece is superb. High c# is pure and clear, whereas the lowest notes an are deep and full. Brilliant!

Disappointed
Poorly finished. Burrs on side rails. I had heard that modern Links were poorly finished and inconsistent. Should have listened. A little dressing and it plays ok now. Looks like plastic not HR.

Free blowing, good tone but not radically different sound to my Yahama 4C
I tested this on a 30 year old Buffet Crampon Evette which is a student horn but nicely set up and it plays well. I don't but it does. I usually play a Yamaha 4C on 2.5 reeds so this was a difference in tip opening (.070" compared to 0.067) and I could feel the difference at first but I soon got used to it. Here are the reeds that I tried:Rico 2.0 - I thought that I would try a softer reed since it is a bigger tip opening but the 2.0 had me bending notes that I didn't mean to bend.Rico 2.5 - Yup, worked well with that. Sounded a bit warmer and darker than the 4C on the same type reedLegere 2.0 synthetic - Legere reeds tend to be a bit stiffer than the number and this felt a bit more work than I would have expected. The tone was a little clinical for me.Legere 2.75 - Unplayable unless I blasted air through the horn like I was angry with it. I hadn't expected that much difference.Boston Nexus Elite 2.5 - Sounds good. It took me a little while to get used to the mouthpiece but a warmer and bigger sound than the 4C. Not radically different but an improvement. Bit finicky about reed placement. The mouthpiece also feels nicer in the mouth.

Plays well ...
Not really for beginners but although I’m not a beginner I found the Six took a bit of getting used to whereas the Five Star was just right, as I wanted more attack than the Yamaha Five C could give & a bit more volume ...

As I'd hoped,
As I'd hoped, this mouthpiece allows me to make a bigger sound than I could with my old OL 4star
