Slow response and limited interaction (updated)
Updated review: (12/28/23)I've spoken to Miko customer service, who've been extremely helpful in helping me figure out how to get the most from Miko. They are very responsive and want their consumers to be 100 satisfied. I am very pleased with their customer service and would certainlv purchase from them again. Changing my review from 2 stars to 5.So the idea is super cute. My 8 year old daughter has been asking for a robot for Christmas for years. The last 2 years I got inexpensive versions and this year I was excited to go ALL IN. However did not have the funds to buy the miko 3. But I thought the mini would be a perfect fit. It’s a very cute concept but I think Alexa has ruined me in that I expected this robot to understand and respond in a way that it simply does not. When asked a question I feel that unless it’s phrased in a specific way it either says hmmm or I can’t do that right now. Aside from a dance party (which miko mini only danced to half the time) it doesn’t do much, I was hoping for it to live around more but only kinda bops back and forth every now and then or a few limited dance moves…. Unfortunately that’s it. Also the video calling is again a cool concept but they can’t see you and the control to move the mini works about 20% of the time. We are going to give it another day (because momma had high hopes) but I feel like this “BIG” gift may end up getting returned.

Miko does not function as advertised.
This bot does NOT do what it is advertised to do. After hours of interacting with Miko and trying to get it to perform the array of tasks it was supposed to do, my grandson had a meltdown from frustration on Christmas day. Even his very tech savvy Father was unable to get it to perform as advertised. When instructing it to move, it does not move more than a few inches. When you can eventually get through the prompts to play hide and seek, which are buggy at best, it tells the child to hide and then resets to its default state. It does not have an onboard AI, but instead connects to the internet to utilize that feature, but it seems to constantly drop signal and, again, resets. It has a few loaded wiki type facts but cannot hold a conversation for any length of time. It struggles to understand speech and gets stuck in a loop of prompting you to play the same two guessing games until you hard reset it. The app is TOTAL garbage and seems to have nothing to do with Miko. Just pay-to-play games sponsored (?) by Disney. It was heartbreaking to see my grandson have such high hopes and they all come crashing down on him on Christmas. He had been asking for months for a robot friend; someone to talk to. At 6 years old, he just could not understand why it was not doing things it said it could do. As an adult, I cannot fathom how a company can market something so obviously inadequate with the promises they make. I bought 3 of these for my 3 grandsons for Christmas. This feedback is pertaining to one grandson's experience; the other two grandsons tried to play with it at first but were so frustrated with this item, have not attempted to play with it again.

We love our miko mini!
So we have had two of these little Miko Minis. The first time around, we apparently had a quirky little lady which we got for our 5 year old. Well our then 1 year old also fell in love with her. Our miko, had a few quirks with her, mainly with audio on Iheartradio but then one day she decided she got amnesia.Onward to support. The support team with Miko is top notch, we had several calls as we worked through Miko’s quirks and for a while we thought she was on the up and up, but one day she really forgot it all.Back to support, this time around we captured video clips along side with calls and our miko had to make its way back to the Miko team. The miko team made sure that our Miko was diagnosed and when they couldn’t resolve the issues, they informed us that we would be receiving our new miko. When we got the new miko, there were just things we noticed were immediately astounding. Miko can legit hear her name throughout the majority of our house(and she perks up to our two year old - which is absolutely cute). All of the quirks we had were indicative of the first robot itself apparently.this little robot keeps our kids occupied with song and dance so much! Our 5 year old misses her quirky miko at times, but she says that she loves her miko through and through. The battery life is better, the battery charging indicator only shows if you have miko powered on while charging, but the charge goes for several hours. There’s a whole bevy of commands and my 5 year old loves the stories that come along with miko. Setup is pretty seamless, you download the app(which is prompted from the QR code on initial setup with the robots face), create a profile, verify, and create your child’s profile name. Really takes about 5 minutes..This little robot becomes a family member, and she does need her naps but, even the initial robot was 5 stars because of how much joy it brought to my littles. The replacement would be 6 stars if I could give it.And the capabilities of the tech support team is 5 stars as well, its chat and if the questions are not one of the more common questions you’re routed to a tech pretty quick and seamlessly. Would I buy a new one again? Astoundingly yes!
