Battery life is very short. And you must take the batteries out the charger once they are charged because they discharge quickly.

This set comes with 8 rechargeable batteries. The charger can handle all size batteries besides the D’s it comes with. Tenergy’s customer service is outstanding. I contacted them due to the time it was taking to charge the batteries, I thought it was taking too long. I had set the unit to discharge then recharge batteries which was the cause of the length in time. The batteries came charged which I neglected to verify. Customer service was so patient with me assured me all was well and working as is it should. Using the batteries in camping lanterns and they are working great! Highly recommend this unit.

With rising prices on batteries, we were going through a lot of money replacing D-size batteries in six LED flicker flame faux candles that we burn for 5 hours every day. This Tenergy unit and same brand batteries seems to be working well. We are seeing about a month between charges, so that means that, at least when the batteries are new, we are getting 150 hours of use from a charge. We have been through two charge cycles at this point. If we start to realize far fewer hours from the batteries too soon, I will update this review. It does take a surprisingly long time to charge batteries in the charging unit, and you can only charge 4 at a time. So if your application requires fast recharging, you might look at another option.

A great way to save money on batteries

Either this charger is defective, the batteries are defective, or both. I put 4 D size batteries in to charge and 6 hours later they still weren't charged. There was also an electrical burning smell that was coming out of it along with a little smoke. So I unplugged it to let it cool down. After it was cooled down I decided to try again. After another 6 hours the display showed that the batteries were fully charged. I went to take them out, but the batteries were too hot to handle, so I had to use a rag to take them out. I pulled out my temperature gun and the batteries were almost at 150 degrees Fahrenheit. After letting them cool down for a good hour I put one back in to check if it was full and the display showed only one bar and started charging the same batteries again. I did this with the 4 originally fully charged batteries, and when I put them back in the charger showed them all at one bar. So I don't know if the batteries aren't holding a charge or if the charger is faulty and reading wrong. Also, the button for the backlight does not work, and the discharge button also does not work. I couldn't get it to discharge. A dangerous product to leave unattended as the risk of fire is too high.

Use for battery powered pump required for RO water for aquarium. Move a lot of water and that was burning energizer max batteries like candy. Tenergy batteries lasted longer and had more power that energizer max batteries. Time to pump 40 gallons of water cut in half!. Will pay back quickly and save me some time.

Charges all sizes AA AAA C D maybe one more in each independent cell, can mix and match while charging. Identifies problem with battery to know which one to pitch.
