Just marvelous!
It's just a tad bulky, but highly adaptable to different sized knives within its' range, and holds the blade quite securely.Ideal use for this item is picnicking or camping, it is washable and will definitely keep the edge from getting dinged up if packed in "kitchen gear" and will protect anyone from being inadvertently cut.Inexpensive piece of mind, way less expensive than replacing a chewed up edge or hospital bills.....I don't need more right now, but am thinking one or two in the 6" size and 10" size would be a good idea.

Works as described
I bought this as I hate blocks and my knife drawer was getting a bit crowded. I have a couple of nice knives and I didn't want the blades to get dinged up in the drawer. This was the perfect solution. I bought 3 of them, one for my 10 inch and 2 for my 8 inch knives. I haven't experienced any of the issues that other posters have. They hold the knife securely and protect the blade. What more could you ask?

Not suitable for intended use. Clumsy design
Not recommended. Clumsy design using cheap plastic. You are more likely to injure yourself using this item than prevent injury.Plus bad fit and you will be returning this item.

Excellent for protection
I received a nice knife for Christmas and wanted to find something better for it than a knife block. This brand was recommended by Alton Brown in a book, and I can see why. It offers good protection of my blade from nicks and dings, and protection of myself from any accidental contact.Pros: The plastic is durable and sturdy and shows no signs of wear despite use, and placing in a shared drawer. It has a small curve so that the tang of the blade can only go in one way - away from the hinges, which protects its owner from opening it straight into the hands.Cons: Occasionally the rubber feet lose their grip. It's somewhat inconsistent, and I haven't figured out a pattern. The rubber can also put small marks on your blade, but to me that's not a major concern.Overall I give it 4 stars in light of its good functionality for its chosen task, as well as the safety aspect of a unidirectional knife position. I took one off just because it will occasionally move, and the blade can make contact with the interior.

Great bargain and durable
I like these much better than sheaths since the rubber grommets hold the knife still and keep the blade edge away from the plastic. I use an elastic band to add even more pressure and stability, but that is mostly because my knife is a thin global sashimi blade.

Very solid product
Needing to transport a single knife (my 8" Chef Knife) to classes or other homes for use, I was looking for safe transport alternatives. The KnifeSafe product works tremendously. When the product snaps shut, there are little rubber feet on both sides of the case that grab onto the blad of the knife in two spots. When this happens, the knife doesn't move *at all* inside of the case. Because the case itself is very lightweight and is only a little bit larger than the size of the knife, it makes transport easy in any improvised carrying cases (briefcase, laptop bag, backpack, etc.) for those that don't have a chef's knife bag. I am quite pleased with this purchase and it has worked very reliably for me to this point.

RUBBER PADS does not hold
rubber pads secure the knife, BUT THEY FALL OUT AFTER THREE DAYS. THEY NEVER DO THE JOB.
