A slim way to store and protect you’re expensive knives.

This is the same review I offered for the 4 1/2" KnifeSafe . . .I made the investment in Viking knives and while I'd like to have them at arms reach on a magnetic holder on the wall, we have small children and needed something safer. I bought a couple KnifeSafes years ago and when I recently added more knives, I looked no further than the original brand I bought. After about 7 years they lock and hold the knife exactly as they did on day one. The knife won't slide around in them and they protect the blade in a drawer of lots of other cooking utensils, (my knives are in great shape even while living amongst the other stuff). Plus, I don't think the kids could open them up. I do wish they made a few more sizes so you could get an exact fit, (I have a 5" Santoku that needed an 8" safe), but even with the excess length there's no sliding around. If you don't want to use a block and have to put your knives in drawers to keep them from little hands, a KnifeSafe is a great option.

Just the right size for our 7" knife and keeps it snug without worry about the blade being exposed if tossed around with the fishing equipment. Also, half the price of the Victorinox one, and a different color, so can distinguish it from our buddies' knives.

We had one of these knife safes for a larger chefs knife and loved it, so when we bought a 7" chefs knife we knew we wanted another. This is exactly the same, and works perfectly... Except it's BLUE. The photo makes it look like a bad photo of a translucent white knife safe (like our other one is). But nope. It's translucent baby blue. I don't see an option to buy the white one, or I'd exchange it. Otherwise I love it! Just wish the description had said "blue"!

I trust this knife holder more than the slip on types. This knife holder is a bit more fiddly to use as you have to place your knife in it and snap it shut, but it holds the knife much more securely and it won't accidentally fall out. I have a some nice slip on covers, which are easier to use, but I've had frequent times where slip on covers will fall off! If you need a secure way to protect your knives the Knife Safe is the best; if you need an easy and quick way protect your knives then a slip on is OK. Personally when I travel with my knives I only use the Knife Safe now.

A very simple, but practical tool!I've purchased two of these so far, for a couple of knives that I don't use all the time, and that there is no room for in my regular kitchen's knife block. So, instead of buying a WHOLE new block (which by the way can cost a LOT), these were the perfect solution. They are easy to use, very durable, ALWAYS stay closed until opened on purpose and are very easy to wash, sanitize, etc...and simply let air dry. Hope this helps! :)
