Review: Eli & Rue 💖 - I practically devoured Not in Love to get myself ready for Problematic Summer Romance, and omg this book is pure bliss – it's quirky, easy, and truly soul-soothing. Eli and Rue were everything I hoped for and more. Rue and Eli weren't looking for a serious relationship. They matched on an app, expecting nothing more than a good time and, thanks to Rue's firm rule, absolutely no repeats. But as wonderfully cliché as it sounds, rules are definitely meant to be broken. From the very first moment they crossed paths, they had me in an absolute chokehold. Their initial encounter sparked something so profound, a connection so undeniably strong it tilted their whole world off its axis. The chemistry between them? It's electric, palpable, and utterly addictive. I couldn't stop smiling, giggling, and swooning my way through every single page. It's the kind of romance that makes you feel light and happy. Eli was so gone for Rue, and his devotion to her is everything! He's this fascinating blend of laid-back yet obsessive, non-judgmental yet assertive, charming yet adorably nervous around her. He had no idea what hit him when he first saw her, not realizing she's his person. Rue, a brilliant biotech engineer at Kline, had built a stable and comfortable world for herself – exactly the financial security she’d yearned for. Her life was perfectly in order, until Eli and his business partners stepped in and initiated a takeover of Kline. This corporate battle sets the stage for their unique love story. Their relationship progressed in such a natural, organic way. It blossomed with every terrible story, every physical intimacy, and every moment they spent together, building on their trust, bond, and eventually, love. Seeing their relationship unfold is one of the most exhilarating experiences. The banter, the tension, the heartfelt declarations – they are just perfect together. I love everything about Ali’s writing, and this book deserves all the stars. Review: Here’s the thing… - Here’s the thing: one you’ve read one or two books by the same author, you kind of know what to expect in terms of style, character and story. “Not in Love” is my third Ali Hazelwood novel - no wait, fourth (I forgot “Bride”), and what I found amazing about this story is that it was not what I expected. I have finally figured out that Hazelwood has a talent for throwing out the road map every time she writes a new book and this one is, delightfully, no exception. I loved the characters who not only have sizzling energy but well developed backstories which are worked into a well thought out plot that saves it from being a barely there excuse for spicy time. Additionally, the romantic interactions are well done with enough thought given to the FMC taking control of her sexual liberties and consent that even the wildest scenes have a point to make. Lighthearted romance? No Off the chart spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥 Definitely Emotional damage? Absolutely HEA? This book is just so good. I love the relationship, the sex scenes are incredible (as in the brain is the main erogenous organ, right?), consent written like this is a very sexy stuff as well. A love at first sight story, with all the trust issues a grown up person can have.... It is the best romance book in my opinion!

I have ready pretty much every book this author has put out. I fell in love with her characters with her first book The Love Hypothesis. Even though it was a slow burn single POV romance, I was obsessed. I loved her foray into fantasy romance with Bride. Now we have a love story once again in STEM with Rue who is just perfect. Ali has a way of writing complex female characters who aren't your typical FMC. They are layered and complicated. It takes a strong male to get behind the walls that have been built up so high. Eli is the perfect male counterpart to Rue. He falls hard and he falls fast. He would stalk Rue to the ends of the earth if she'd let him. I loved that we get to have his POV in this story. The love he feels for Rue almost borders on unhinged. When Ali says that this book is her steamiest yet, she wasn't kidding. This is probably an exaggeration, but half the book felt like smut. Not in any overdone way. The author is showing two characters who connect so easily on a sexual level. Rue finds it difficult to communicate her feelings but she has no issues being sexual with Eli. It's her way to be close to him without breaking down too much of her walls. Absolutely loved this book. This author a truly amazing story teller.

Not in Love had me from the first page. I appreciated the warning, but neither main character struck me as particularly dysfunctional due to past trauma. Shit, we're all at least as socially inept as Rue (digging the Hunger Games references BTW), and Eli is a fictional male whom we'd all like to meet but never will. The story was entirely plausible (& I appreciate the science lingo on occasion), and the relationship arch was spot on. Ok, so their sexually compatibility is at approximately 101% at first sight, and yes, I am jealous of that. Still, they didn't fall into anything easily. I'm sad to have finished it, as I always am after Ali fills my head with fantasy, but I would recommend it (if you are up for smut) and will read it again I know my best book buddy will not get into it. Changing POV really shits her, I don't mind it, though. As usual, I hate not to be the main character in another of Ali's books
