The picture showed a little brush, but I did not receive the brush. The Zester is easy to use and seems sturdy.

I have been wanting to get a zester for quite a while, but I keep forgetting to get one when I went to the store. When I saw this available for review, I jumped on it, as it looked like I can use it for zesting, and for grating hard cheeses or chocolates. It works great for all 3 cases, and is extremely easy to clean, which makes me even more happy. The tool itself is very different from all other graters that I've seen or used, and the plastic cover does a great job of both preventing the tool from dulling, and from causing damage to other things, including your hands.When grating things like parmesan cheese and dark chocolate, the gratings are very fine, which is exactly what I was looking for. I don't like long grated strands like many graters create, and this is more like a course powder. If you want fresh cheese on your spaghetti or lasagna, this is perfect for that. If you want a light dusting of hard chocolate on a pastry, or other dessert, it works great for that as well.To clean it, just use a little soap and a plastic bristle brush to clean it. Then rinse it off and dry it as best as you can. It is made of stainless steel, so if you keep it dry, it shouldn't rust. Not fully drying it after cleaning, is a good way to destroy any stainless steel utensil. It is also dishwasher safe. If this sounds great to you, I can definitely recommend it. Make sure that you keep the plastic cover, as it is very useful.

Larger than expected, case doesn't hold very tight and it's difficult to clean. Doesn't work well with turmeric.

This is my first time purchasing a Deiss brand product and it's been a wonderful experience! I've previously own a grater/zester like this that I purchased from a local restaurant supply store which was horribly disappointing because the blades were dull and dug too deep into citrus. It's a totally different story with this grater though!For starters this grater/zester is large, if you only plan to use it for zesting citrus it might to too big for you, but if you enjoy things like finely shredded cheeses it's great because you'll only need this one grater. What really caught my eye though is the height of the blades. They truly did keep the multiple uses for this in mind because the blades are high enough to shred cheeses and other items, but still low enough to cleanly zest your citrus. Citrus is something I've always struggled with using a grater like this because they're more focused on shredding things like cheese so the blades end up carving out the pith along with the zest and you get an unpleasant result. The blades are nice and sharp, I haven't had any issues with foods catching on them during use.Cleanup is nice and easy, I highly recommend keeping this out of the dishwasher because it's super easy to hand wash and will help preserve those blades. I like that it comes with a plastic cover for the top too. It's not the tightest fit, but stays on in my drawer; however, I have a feeling it would come off fairly easily in a more packed drawer.
