I thought the dress was gold. it is beige. The only thing gold is the edging on the bow. I wanted to remove the bow but that is not possible as it is attached or embedded so that it would destroy the dress. The dress is very nice quality material and good workmanship. Although it is not gold, it is very gorgeous and I do like it and am very happy.

I will be wearing this as an Elizabeth Swann costume. The boys want to be Caribbean Pirates, this year. I was surprised by the level of quality of this costume. It's made of a mid-weight damask that's more comparable to a tablecloth or the outer of a necktie or tux vest than to your usual run-of-the-mill Halloween costume satin, which is what I was expecting for the price. It's also fully lined and has a side zipper but no boning or anything like that. If helpful: it is a mashup of a 1770s robe à l'anglaise (front) and 1760s robe à la française (back). It's a nice compromise between the two styles. If I had to choose, I'd say it's truer to the earlier French style than the later English. I am 5'6", 195 lbs, size 16, and I ordered a 3X according to the size chart -- it was HUGE on me. Too long, too wide, too big. I will return and reorder a 2X and a 1X and report back on sizing! I ordered the gold version. It is more of a light champagne than a true gold. A color light enough that it'd be inappropriate to wear to a wedding if that helps. I am a former theatrical costume designer, and though this is not of the quality you would expect to see on Broadway, this is nonetheless a good quality costume.
