I’m originally from Holland and in my childhood we use to chew on these exact licorice sticks and they were called “zoethout” or “sweetwood”. My son inherited my love for black licorice and wanted to try them.. well he hated it.. I don’t think he was expecting to chew on an actual wood stick haha… I ended up returning them because I will never get through all of that and it was just a fun memory thing for me. But I can say they are legit licorice root sticks and they are the real thing if you are looking for zoethout in the US 😊

This is Liquorice root. Don't expect to chew it. If you've ever had flavored toothpicks, these are like those, a piece of wood with a flavor. The sweetness comes from glycyrrhizin, which has 30–50 times the sweetness of sugar. Thus, it's basically like a sweet toothpick that lasts for a long time.As presented, the chunks were too thick for me, but the roots are easy to cleave, hammer or chip. Not many calories in a chip since you don't eat it.

Terrible, don't ask me. I must have been drunk or something. Terrible, oh, I already said that. They are just pieces of sticks, picked up, sorted out to be the same size, cleaned, and put in a bag. Literally.

It’s too dry. You can’t suck on it. It’s so fibrous

I am tasting licorice and a hint of cinnamon…that’s what I am getting from it even though there is no cinnamon involved :). These chew sticks make a great replacement for bad habits. Just chew on one of these instead. That’s what I have been doing for two days and it is helping me big time. It takes a second to get used to how you are going to hold it in your mouth. I suck on it and then chew and I put the whole thing in my mouth and chew. I have to say these are way better than I had thought they would be and I really like them. Great value and tastes great too!

Just tastes like wood.
