Great book with many chapters and useful information. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to know more about marine diesel engines. More comprehensive than RYA diesel book.

Assumes that you have no knowledge at all, so starts with the basics and tells you everything you need to know. Greta technical manual. Better than even the Haynes Car Workshop Manuals used to be in the '80s. No boat owner should be without this book.

Interesting read and very informative.

I purchased this to help me understand and get to grips with maintenance of the Diesel engines on my new boat. Whilst the book is beginning to show its age and doesn’t cover some of the newer technologies, it’s introductions and principles have been invaluable as I embark on oil and filter changes, checking the fuel system and taking care of the engine. Still recommended.

The engine bible. Keep it at your elbow. Refer often. Makes good evening reading too if you are an engine nut. Otherwise it helps get the job done.

A classic. Much more than you want to know, but everything you need to know, about marine diesels. Bought it as a gift for a new diesel owner; especially for its troubleshooting guides. Succinctly lists the things that go wrong, in the order of their frequency. Some updates since my 25 year old edition, but the engine basics haven’t changed.

Full of practical and useful information, you can potentially save thousands of dollars in maintenance and repair fees by using the easy-to-understand knowledge contained within. Very well written, this book will have a permanent home in my cruising library and will be a highly valued go-to resource.

Great book with plenty of pictures to guide you throw any project. Well written for the professional mechanic or an experienced do it yourself type of individual. I bought the book for trouble shooting projects and the import things to do to keep your diesel running right. It has plenty of tips and examples with pictures of what can go wrong if you don't maintain your engine properly. It gives great trouble shooting techniques so if the job is too big or too time consuming to do yourself, the mechanic you chose will understand you know your way around diesel engines and should not pump up the bill with unneeded repairs.
