Sewing Your Perfect Capsule Wardrobe: 5 key pieces with full-size patterns that can be tailored to your style

Beautiful book with a wealth of information
This book is beautifully organized. It includes 5 pattern pieces that are sized 1-6. If you don’t fall in this size range, there is minimal instruction on how to grade your pattern (see photo). No reduction in stars for this. You are expected to redraw patterns and remake muslins to get the perfect fit. Each piece has its own section that provides pattern layouts, fabric suggestions, tips and assembly instructions. The best part is all the variations you can make using the main pattern piece. From the main trouser pattern, you can make skinnier legs, trouser turn-ups and, my favorite culottes.

Sizing
Like it but would appreciate having patterns for my size included. These were too small for my curves and plus size

If only I'd received my order.
I think I would have really liked this book. I can only imagine because I NEVER received it. I did get charged for it thought. The best of both worlds.

Largest size UK 16
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful book with great patterns and plenty of options for sewing a capsule wardrobe, with well illustrated variations for each pattern. However, the largest size equates to a UK 16 dress size, so sadly too small for me. Wish this information had been available before purchase.

Limited in scope
I bought this book thinking it would be adaptable for pretty much anyone, but find the styles offered don't suit my style at all and I doubt I'll make anything from the patterns. The inclusion of a racer back vest surprised me hugely: fast fashion makes these so cheaply I couldn't imagine making one (or wearing one on a regular basis). This is yet another sewing book that'll probably sit on the shelf unopened, I'm afraid. The size range is fine for me, but not if you are the average UK size or bigger (size 16 RTW). I think this book would be fine for a 16 to 30 year-old with good sewing skills, as the instructions would need to be reinforced by internet tutorials, I think.

Nice idea but I found the instructions impossible to follow.
I love the idea of this. I was hoping for a book that would provide a foundation for my whole wardrobe, with enough variants to keep things interesting. I have far too many clothes, including many that fit badly, so really want to trade this for a smaller, higher quality selection that's properly sized. The book starts well, with very useful info about fabrics and different stitch types. But after that, things get complicated. The patterns are mixed and overlapping. The pattern paper is too small so you have to trace pieces, cut out, and stick them together with tape. That seems a little mean. A separate pattern sheet for each garment, sufficiently large for the pieces, would be better. The biggest problem is the sketchy instructions. There are a few diagrams, but not enough to make the processes clear. The text is short, lacks description, is often confusing, and is probably only going to be of use to people who have already made these garments. I've done a fair bit of sewing but at every stage I had to read, re-read, Google, and then try and find videos to help work out what I had to do. That made buying the book pointless - I could just have bought a few patterns and watched the same videos. If you're an experienced dressmaker and already know how to create pockets and insert zips, it's probably useful. Otherwise, you might need a lot of back-up info and this could be a frustrating experience.

I received this book as a gift and I think ...
I received this book as a gift and I think it has some of the clearest explanations for making some simple garments that I have come across. I have made a couple of the vest tops which have been very successful. I'll try the trousers next.

Best sewing book ever
Absolutely brilliant and informative book. Have made some of the garments and for once, they fit perfectly. Very easy to understand and is extremely friendly.
