I am adding an inline water softener to a shower head, and after the standard shower arm and added filter, my handheld is in a really bad position. I used this little dumpling out of the wall and added a rotating angle device that seals itself based upon water pressure. I then added a thin disc softener and then my handheld, and finally an on/off valve (see what I mean?). The current setup is pretty nice, though eventually I hope to find a more consolidated solution with fewer points of failure. While the filter holds out, I'm leaving things as is. This short arm was a God send.
