Vacuum packed product is great!
I especially like the fact that this product is vacuum packaged in 1 lb blocks. This helps keep the product in a fresher state. The last time I purchased from another company, the 10 lbs was in a single large plastic bag. I’m not sure how fresh the larvae stayed over a period of several months. So, when I found this brand, vacuum sealed in one pound packages, I decided to try it. I am very happy with the product and the price was very good.

Perfect Protein Boost for My Chickens!
I’ve been feeding my chickens dried soldier fly larvae for a while now, and I can’t recommend this product enough! It’s a fantastic source of protein that my hens absolutely love. Since adding this to their diet, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in their egg production, and the shells are stronger too. The larvae are a great treat that’s not only healthy but also natural. The quality is top-notch – they arrive in a resealable bag that keeps them fresh and easy to store. Highly recommend for anyone looking to provide their flock with a nutritious snack!

The girls love them!
My hens love soldier fly larvae and mealworms but they're super expensive at TSC and Family Farm and Home. This brand was pretty affordable and definitely provided enough treats to make it a great value for the price. The product comes in multiple bags which come individually sealed so there's no worry of not using all 5lbs before it spoils. The girls come running when they hear the sound of the bag shaking and they seem to really enjoy these treats!

Chicken love
Chickens love them. Prefer BSFL better than mealworms due to better nutritional value. Like it is sectioned out with sealed bags. My last order I was slightly disappointed with the sealed bags not being sealed well. Only reason I am not giving a 5 star rating. My other orders the bags were sealed perfectly.

Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae (5LBS) High Protein Chicken Treats
I ordered the Black Soldier Fly Larvae for my daughter who has 4 Pet Chicken because her normal order from another seller was not available. She sys her Chicken really love this and are always eager to get their Treats several times during the day when my daughter goes outside to spoil them. My daughter especially likes it that the 5 lbs come in 5 - 1lb bags instead of 1 -5lb bag. She says this way they will stay fresh much longer. My daughter wants me to continue ordering these again so I will most likely do this on a "every other month" basis. The Chickens get this as treats 3-4x/day not as all day food.. She will let me know when she opens the last bag so I can reorder it again. According to her and her Chickens who love it and devour it - it is a great snack for them

I like the packaging
I had not purchased this brand before and thought I would give it a try. I will give to my birds tomorrow and see if they like it or if they turn up their noses. The larvae look nice and plump and fresh and don't have a rancid smell. What I really liked is that it is 5 lbs and each pound is packaged individually. I use them for wild birds and don't go through larvae as fast as if I had chickens, etc. I like that the other packages are sealed with freshness packets inside, ready to use when I finish a pack. That way, the other larvae should stay fresh longer. They came quickly and if my birds like the product, I will order from them again.

Not for wild birds. Basically dried larvae skins.
I was excited when this package came. Packaging was great and the 5 vacuum packed blocks would keep the product fresh. However, after opening the first package, it appears it is nothing but the shells of larve. Per the package, they are microwave dried, but I would think there would be some substance to them, They are so light and empty they slightest breeze or wing flap blows them away. I wanted these as a special boost for breeding season of the various song birds that visit my feeders, but none of those birds -- woodpeckers, bluejays, cardinals, catbirds, mockingbirds, titmouses, nuthaches, finches, sparrows, wrens nor chickadees will touch them. It did bring in a pair of robins that have become regular visitors to eat them as well as broken peanut pieces, I also put out. It did not bring any bluebirds that someone else mentioned in their review, although they are only occassional visitors at my feeders. I bought this product in the beginning of March and still have 3 unopened packs left 4 months later. Very disappointed. I won't buy this again.
