Mehandi provides a reliable, quality product for my custom hair formula with henna, amla & indigo!
I've been using Mehandi products exclusively for my hair, for about the last 5 years, after reading lots about henna on various chat boards. I wanted a very natural look for my fine, graying auburn hair. Mehandi seemed to be the "gold standard" and I immediately noticed the difference in quality from the premixed henna colors found at the health food store. Their hennas mix up far creamier and rinse easily, and the colors are rich. I especially like that the Mehandi does quality testing and provides a standardized chemical profile with each product. Over the years, I have experimented with combinations of henna, cassia, indigo and amla to get to a nice medium auburn shade. I dropped the cassia (which I think I was slightly allergic to) in favor of amla a couple years ago, and it was the right choice - amla serves as the "acid" ingredient AND tones down the brassiness of henna to bring out the ashier tones. Unlike indigo, alma can be mixed with the henna to oxidize (indigo requires no oxidation and should be added shortly before application). My current mix includes the following (approximate) proportions, which results in a medium red to light auburn: 50% Rajasthani Twilight Henna 30% Amla 20% Zekhara Indigo My lovely hair dresser applies it for me, and I wear it home for 90-120 minutes before rinsing; I have it re-applied every 6 weeks when I get my hair cut. That's maintained the perfect shade for a number of years now, with just a bit of fading by the last week. I'm very happy with the natural look and get frequent compliments. I'll fefinitely be sticking with my Mehandi products!

Nice for henna recipes
I like that Mehandi lab tests their products and doesn't add any chemicals. I use this Amla fruit acid to mix in to my henna recipe when I color my hair. Amla makes the henna recipe acidic, so that the henna color doesn't fade over time. Amla also makes henna take up better on resistant gray hair, and makes the orange-y color of pure henna turn out more coppery auburn. It preserves the natural wave in hair too, which henna can sometimes relax. It takes 25g amla mixed into 100g henna. With distilled water added, that makes enough mixture to do a root touch up. Plenty of instructions and help on the Mehandi website, it's got tons of info on how to henna your hair. I also use Amla as a face scrub.

Great to revive curls
This really helped revive my damaged curls after a year of sun, pool, wind and product abuse.

Won't buy any other brand but this
I've been using henna on my hair for a while but I have curly hair with different types of curls and after seeing my texture changed I began to research. Discovered that adding AMLA to my henna helps keep my curls and also just promote healthier hair along with the benefits of henna. Now I can continue using henna without losing my natural curls and texture. I have also noticed that Amla really seems to boost the longevity of henna and the health and beauty of my hair.
