Plant Families: A Guide for Gardeners and Botanists

Nicely illustrated, smaller-size book.
This is a nicely illustrated book, with drawings that are reminiscent of botanical watercolors from the 1800s. It is useful for identifying differences between plants, and for classifying plant types. The book is smaller than I expected (my fault for not checking the book dimensions) - I have posted a picture of the book in front of an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper. Although I recommend this book, it is not my favorite botanical reference book. Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

Lovely informative book
I love being outside and trying to better understand the world around me, through gardening, wandering in nature, and exploring some of the world's most interesting, beautiful, and remote places. I've become a decent field botanist in the places I know well, but have more trouble identifying plants when I'm in a new place. The last few years have made plant identification even more challenging as too many names have been replaced with even more complicated Latin/binomial names. But I delight in science and learning and so decided that this would help me better understand plant families. The book is well written, nicely illustrated, and interesting to this reader. Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to grow their botanical knowledge.

Four Stars
Not very inclusive of many North American plant families. It seems to be horticulturally biased towards European plant families.

Thoughtfully written and exceptionally crafted
This book is exceptionally well thought out and designed. The illustrations are fantastic, and the level of detail is sufficient for a generalist to get what they need. More than anything the craftsmanship stands out. They used extra heavy paper and bindings, making a resource that is a joy to hold and will outlast every book on your shelf!

Aunt loves this beautiful book.
I bought this book for my garden-loving aunt, and she loved it. The book is beautiful--the illustrations are gorgeous. It even comes with a little ribbon bookmark. The book is interesting, maybe a little dense, but still so pretty and fun to thumb through.

Type too small and light
Lovely book, very hard to read. I felt like my eyes had aged 10 years. The type is light, small and printed on a warm aged looking colored paper. The design is lovely but the graphic designer must have had very good eyes.
